Same here. But I am constantly 50/50 on if my Professor is just some crazy dude making shit up or if he's speaking the truth.

He has worked for both Google and the US government and in the past and he straight up keeps claiming that the NSA can easily crack every form of encryption currently used and that the US government is simply faking as if it's impossible. He went as far as to claim that the entirety of cryptocurrency is a vain field because there is no such thing as secure cryptography right now since the NSA can crack every single encryption there is right now.

Again it seems extremely unlikely he is speaking the truth since I never hear anything about this and you'd think cryptos would be hacked by now if this were the truth. At the other hand he worked at the Pentagon as a cryptography expert and personally resigned due to finding the work and research he did there unethical in nature.

I want to know if others on /sci/ can confirm his claims. Do you guys know other professors or experts that claim the same things or is my professor some of the biggest bullshitters in the world?

I'm straight up suspecting my professor is an incel. He goes to ridiculous length every lecture to belittle and make fun of women all the time to the point where even I (4chan posting dude) am starting to feel awkward as if the professor might have some women chained up in his basement or something.

It's a CS course so there are no women in the class but he is having 20 minute tangents about the inferiority of women while obviously being frustrated about it. It's not even said in a banter way but in a rant way where he is constantly raising his voice in an emotional manner.

I can answer this, now no one remembers this but me apparently, or I'm just getting old.
During the 1990s computer craze while the tech was being plugged hard, it was in pop culture that they had working quantum computers, that the government had developed, and we didn't get told what quantum meant, it was represented more as the difference between like a regular computer and a supercomputer.
So we were told they had working quantum computers like thirty years ago.
So now there is a big generation of people who fell for over confident marketing and get really angry if you challenge them because it's so confusing .

To the contrary. Intelligence agencies fear using their big card since it is a single play only. This has been an issue for 100 years at least. The discrete logarithm can easily be broken, and I'm not talking about Shor's algorithm. ECC and RSA are a shit. Current research into number theory is heavily shilled. Universities are given grant money from the IC to send Mathematicians on wild goose chases which spam the journals with too much noise to put the pieces together. The same pieces which were put together by NSA researchers in the '80s. The NSA employs more Mathematicians than any other single organization in the world, and if you start publishing anything that hits too close to home they are going to send you an offer you can't refuse.
