Since atoms are made of particles of energy which would imply matter itself if made out of energy, do you think that dark matter might be a state between energy and regular matter and might also explain the mysterious gravitational pulls?

This board is where the science people go is it not?

>> No.11206352

The mysterious gravitational pulls are mysterious because researchers have failed to arrive at a definitive, fundamental understanding of what gravity actually is. The current failed models being unable to match with real world observations makes things MYSTERIOUS and BAFFLES scientists. Instead of coming up with new models, we are stuck with trying to explain the cosmos using a single force that is not even defined or understood.

Arent subataomic particles mainly photons and neutrons?

Anon, you realize our knowledge of what makes up sub-atomic particles is limited to what we can glean from in a few thousandths of a second by looking at trajectories of things we think make up when we smash atoms together at incredibly high speed.

Thinking we have a firm grasp on what any of that really is testament to the hubris of man.

at some level of abstraction, the particles comprising nuclei are photons and neutrons, yes
why are you calling them "particles of energy", though?

a photon and a neutron are two very different things anon.

how so? i don't get it
what is it about neutrons and photons that makes them uniquely "energy" as opposed to, say, electrons?

Don't be pretentious anon. OP clearly came here because he wanted to engage in a general bullshit theory about Dark Matter. Which is perfectly fine since all theory on Dark Matter is just bullshit anyway.

i'm just trying to make him build a concrete understanding of what he's saying, anon-kun

he talks about a possible "state between energy and regular matter", but earlier claims that energy IS matter itself, so i'm trying to help him find what the intermediate state between those might possibly be

Anon Dark Matter is just a bullshit guess so far. Basically what happened was using Netwon's laws of motion we got really good at testing and predicting the movements of astral bodies. We got bretty gud at plotting essentially exactly where any planetary body in a our solar system would be at any one time. As we got more powerful telescopes we started looking at other objects in our galaxy and even whole other galaxies. And for lots of the stuff we were pretty spot on with out predictions. Then we started doing the math on the galaxies as whole and were flumoxed. Because all our formulaes told us that essentially all the galaxies should spin apart and just have stars and groups of stars fly off in a bunch of different directions, but they didn't.

This is where the bullshit started. So scientists started what if there is other matter that is holding it together and so we turned our telescopes to where that matter should have been but didn't see anything. So then scientists said ok, what if the matter really is there holding the galaxy together but we can't see it. This is how the idea of Dark Matter got started. And this is literally all the evidence for Dark Matter. Does this mean the idea of Dark Matter is false? No. it is possiblly true. Does it mean there could be no other explanation that doesn't even involve the force of gravity that could explain why Galaxies don't fly a part? No, there could be another explanation. But all of it so far is just speculation and general bullshit.

It's helpful if you think of particles as being manifestations of invisible fields. These fields can interact with one another though the weak force fields which is how particles turn into one another. There are photon fields, electron fields, graviton fields...etc. The probability wave is just a list of places that particle might be found. The particle is where the... i don't have a great word for it. But it's where the waves center of mass is.

There is no such thing as dark matter, it's an "out" for physicists to explain how they can't explain anything. Dark matter is a crutch for those who have been mislead down a dark and slippery path.

atoms come from starts. dark matter comes from blackholes. light comes from starts and lights up atoms. x-rays come off of blackholes and light up dark matter.

atoms are collectives of electrons and quarks that are in motion. if the standard model is true they that would quantify into them being made of energy.
