11177300 No.11177300 [Reply] [Original]

Do I need stitches? I cut off maybe ~0.5 cm of my thumb with an axe. My roommate is saying I need stitches, but its not really a gash or anything so I don't see what they could do. I lost a decent amount of blood, but probably <1/2 cup, so other than the obvious discomfort (I know it's gonna suck when I shower) I don't think there's anything wrong, but I just wanna make sure.

Bro this is what it looks like after 24 hours. I don't think I'm losing my thumb anytime soon. I might get some antibiotics tomorrow though. It's staying together pretty well and it's not bloody or messy or discharging or anything. I've had plenty of full on infections that I didn't treat and they eventually healed. I have had to get antibiotics a few times though.

It is insurance, but less centralized and a lot less exploitive. The US' medical field is so corrupt, it just leaves you amazed. My thumb is looking really good today and there is not any serious discomfort or pain, given the severity of the injury. Only problem is that I can't get the band-aid off and its stuck on really well. I tried soaking it in water. I don't want to rip it off because that would almost definitely dislodge the tip.

As a nurse, i world try (not hard) but just to see if it can come off grapping and pulling with a tweezers. If it dosnt, you should clean it with something like hydrogen peroxide bandage it (not too tight) and let it rest for 3-4 days, and then check
