There are extant lines of cloned cancer cells (such as the HeLa line) which have been cultivated for more than 100 years. Is it possible, using technologies such as CRISPR, to reverse the genetic damage to such cells and regrow the human body, in part or in whole? Could cancer ironically become a fountain of youth?

Cancer is the genetic damage, the moment you lose your structure of genome and especially the p52 gene you get cancer. Basically cancer is aging, or the final form of aging. Also the brain could never somehow recover from losing its structure to cancer even if you could RT it.
I had the same idea once, I never tell it to anyone.
You should keep this thought to yourself, there may be a way... Also anyone scientist would call you and idiot. you should not let others take your idea, not only are we not ready for immortality but whoever figures it out will be god. Anyone who sees this post with half a brain should drop the idea and not bring it up until...

why is it necessary for birth to counteract cancer? Cancer is basically egoistic cells. If a cancer cell plays prisoners dilemma it will defect, while a normal cell would cooperate.

The genius of birth is that you start over from one single cell, and clone a whole baby out of it. If that cell was a "cooperator" then the whole body will cooperate and be healthy. If that cell was a cancerous "defector", then the cells will all try to screw each other over, resulting in miscarriage, removing the cancerous DNA from the population.

Cancer is mutation after cell is run out of protective telomerase. This is why even whale get cancer. Normal cell when not enough telomerase decide to senesce. This is cleanup to throw away defectives. Cancer cell go mad and never senesce just keep making more cancer cell. Never clean up own mess.
