Results in a net increase of IQ by 15-20 points.

Patient A went from 93 to 117
Patient B from 86 to 120
Patient C from 98 to 130.

Hmmm

If you have a brain cyst and you get your cyst fenestrated chances are you r IQ will rise.

Discuss. It turns out if you remove a cyst the brain grows back in... so a 23 year old patient gets a brain like a baby for a few years and can boost IQ by 20+ points. Kinda wild if you ask me.

Here is a video of the procedure.

Imagine this. A simply 30 minute procedure and you get 27 points of IQ.

good for them. so is everyone with this condition in the barely average range of IQ starting out or could we be missing out on some true genius because his brain is being deprived of living space by a cyst?

So the IQ studies were done with people who have very low IQ just to see what happens. The thing is that this effect is observed at all iq levels although very few higher iq people have their iq tested specifically pre and post op.

I have an iq around 130 so maybe after surgery I can be 150.

That's possible. Cysts have specific behavioral cues as well. Elements of hyperanxiety and add are present in cysts located in the left cranial fossa. Many don't present with symptoms at all.

The brain effectively regrows into the cavity left behind by the fenestrated cyst. So this is likely the reason that IQ rises.

Larger cysts (very rare) can result in a higher IQ post op.

This is me btw. I will come back here in 3 months at 160 IQ and rule you all from my lofty perch.

I had this weird theory that memory and intelligence are correlated to the arachnoid and pia mater.
Maybe the cyst forced the meninges to hypertrophy by mechanical extension and when the brain was decompressed it found a pia mater and arachnoid richer in cells.

Thanks for sharing this tidbit, I'll keep it in mind for a thesis.

Interesting. Isn’t the arachnoid just a sort of menbrane layer? Why would it be associated with memory ?

Give it some credit, this one's better than most.

Yeah the meninges are basically just pure connective tissue but I have this nagging feeling that they're more involved than we give it credit for.
It's just a hunch, literally no evidence to back it up. But I'll do some research on it in the future.

How do i found out if I have one and can I induce one?

>> No.11155352 [DELETED]

>>11154428
You find out if you get an MRI. Most people have a really bad headache or something for them to get that first MRI. It can’t really be induced. They aren’t supposed to be there, it happens because of an infection during your youth or a small lesion/brain injury or bleeding as a kid.
