turns out got a hobby for learning new things for no particular reason, so where do i start?

I suggest that you dive into Euclid's Elements, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euclid%27s_Elements.. My mind spins around with glee whenever I draw it out and see how everything makes sense
