and French has a huge ass crowd. An estimated 274 million French speakers (L1 plus L2). That is MORE then enough to have a crowd to make stuff to produce and sell for. 80 million is still massive. Other languages have an "Excuse" because their demographics aren't big or they don't have the capital to make materials in their language but that doesn't apply to French.

If you still don't understand why I'm only counting france's population then I will explain, it makes no sense to use French as a second language, the whole world uses English if you are going to study or work in a foreign language it might as well be English.
those l2 and l1 can't really use french as it's very primitive even the French can't speak proper french. I didn't count Canada because the french speaking population are forced to work and study in English unless they want to stay poor. And I will add that there are some dialects inside of France that re completely different from french and also the foreigners who can't speak French at all (indians, chinese, arabs ....) who are working for foreign companies mostly. So in the end it's so much less than 70m.

The French have great novelists, and po-mo discourse is mostly french.

Also, recall second half of 20th century mathematics was dominated by the French. French culture may be in decline (which I cannot be sure about), but there's still much to learn from them. I'd be glad if I at some point was taught French besides my second language that is English.

The arabs are not like the french they don't force their langauge on other people so even though the official langauge of morocco has been arabic for hundreds of years there were still some tribes who used a mixture of arabic and berber dialects. The french try to use the berber as a bunch of usefull idiots to destablize the country. Morocco had one official language since the introduction of islam no matter what other people try to say it's and it will always be arabic.
