>What is the scientific explanation behind blacks being unable to swim?

Being able to swim is an unbelievably useless skill to learn for most people.

Almost all first world white people learn to swim, they learn as kids because they play in the water.

Most minority people do not play in water and few learn to swim. Most minorities living on islands do NOT know how to swim.

Swimming is a white first world ability.

If you're expecting some biological reason, it doesn't exist.

For black Americans at least, years of segregation deprived large swathes of the black community from accessing public pool and swimming resources. When segregation ended , the damage was already done. Grandparents didn't know how to swim, didn't teach their kids how to swim, actively instilled a fear of water into their kids, and encouraged sports like Basketball instead for recreation. And their kids did the same to their kids and so on.

There's plenty of African fisherman, who presumably know how to swim, so I wasn't even aware the stereotype extended to other blacks.

i know it sounds like a joke, but it's actually not.
to this day i've had arguments with different parents about why they don't get their kids swimming lessons.
you get these answers like "i can't swim, and i'm fine" or "what if they drown during the lesson"
even though it only takes a couple hours to teach someone to tread water so that touching a pool of water isn't instadeath.

If you fish on a level beyond recreation you should know how to swim. If you use maritime ecommerce, you should know how to swim. IF you have a navy, you should know how to swim. There are pacific island nations who use fucking blow darts to hunt that know how to swim. No excuses. Superstition is the reason certain demographics choose not to learn how to swim.

Babies instinctively know how to "swim" (move through the water in such a manner that their head is kept up in a way that allows breathing) just like they instinctively know how to crawl. It's not particularly hard. I've read articles discussing this and tl;dr if you start young enough that you haven't fully gotten rid of that infantile instinct then you don't sperg the FUCK out and enter the "I'm drowning" reflex.

If you look at the two in OP, they go absolutely bonkers the moment they get above their head, and any reasoning in their brains goes right out the window as pure instinct takes over. They can't simply lean back and take it easy or whatever because they're freaking the fuck out.

>>11112827
I think it's because of the complete lack of family that most Blacks in the US have, where teaching your children certain things and doing certain things are just not done because nobody did them for you. Over two hundred years of the Democrats... well, existing in some for or another, has completely robbed Blacks of really basic notions that White Americans, and absolutely everyone else on the planet, have. You then get this weird crabs-in-the-bucket mentality, despite there being pockets of competence within Black society that trace back very, very far. Like, cooking meals from scratch instead of just buying ready-made food or microwavable dinners is something that most Blacks just... don't do, and any notion of doing it is outrageous because "that's White". They lack these social technologies as a whole, but there ARE pockets of Black society that do do these things "natively", and not just because "I'm wealthier now, so I don't care if I'm 'acting white'".

So you get this weird divide where you'll have dirt poor Mississippi Blacks who swim and have long standing culinary traditions, and urban Blacks who make like twenty times more in income, but don't know how to swim and couldn't cook anything that didn't come from a box with directions on the side.
