There is also something to be added to this because it is a self feedback loop. Back in the days before social media, people, both male and female, had to go out to public places to socialize. This meant that, more or less, you only really met people locally so choices were much more narrow. Stacy went with Chad, and then the middles went with eachother. Mostly everyone was able to find someone even if they were not the best personality fit due to lack of choices. I know a few guys who, if they grew up now, would never have a chance at finding someone who would even tolerate them.
