I went into CS, I had thought CS grads earn more. Now I am questioning that, but I'm still satisfied with my decision. Not a fan of corporate culture personally. At least with tech jobs the product is the only thing that matters - I hope.

You need to know someone and have connections or come from a rich background otherwise they won't let you in.

t. Finance major with 3.85 GPA that ended up going into medicine because the idiots wouldn't even give me an interview. Even internships you need to know someone. I tried. I applied for hundreds.

That's how it works for everything, unfortunately. Getting into a good grad school for physics is all about knowing the right professor / your undergrad PI having connections. If someone can vouch for you, it goes a lot farther than what some transcript says about your abilities.

I feel like you people are just incompetent. EE is not a bad degree, you just probably played it in the worst way possible. How well you do in the job market after college is all about how you spent those 4 years. I studied pure math so in terms of job prospects I was behind all of you, but by just playing
>strategic internships from the moment I graduated high school
>international publications since my junior year
>creating a wide network who to this day recommend me for great jobs

I managed to get a top tier finance job the moment I was out of college. And I constantly get called by recruiters for other awesome positions that unfortunately I can't take because my current job is just too good.

this is the correct way of doing things. had i understood the importance of networking i would have made that my focus. i heard a lot about networking from the biz majors but dismissed this as something pertaining to their careers and not mine. i went all in on gpa and lost out there too, mostly because of poorly planned semesters and being too arrogant to drop a course

Why did you take a job that typically requires an engineering technology degree and not a real engineering degree? Couldn't you just stay in your mom's basement for a month or two? Find a way out, man.

>Why did you take a job that typically requires an engineering technology degree and not a real engineering degree? Couldn't you just stay in your mom's basement for a month or two?
i could have and should have. my pride prevented me from accepting unemployment so i just took the first offer i got. there are many other qualified engineers in the same position who work at my company and theres such a surplus of engineering degrees now that my company actually requires a 4 year degree for this role. unfortunately this is job number 3 in 3 years so im stuck for at least 3 more or else my resume is toilet paper. do NOT repeat my mistakes

If you make enough money to keep the bill collector away (rent, groceries, gas, medical expenses) then you won't encounter any finance-related issues.

Having any more money than that will not bring extra happiness.

disagree. knowing that i am being outearned by others with similar qualifications drives me up the fucking wall. i am constantly looking for harder ways to hustle because clearly i wasnt doing enough. i would be happy to be making more money just for sanity's sake

>> No.11054270

I can feel you but you should drop this immediately because like it or not the richest people in the world are people who just inherited their money and have 0 qualifications in anything at all. If your problem is that people with similar qualifications make more money than you then your only solution might be investing into ropes.

>> No.11054271

Then money is clearly not making you happy. If the mere existence of the object is causing you stress as you constantly want more and more but can't have it, then you're no different than a drug addict. So how is money making you happier?

> i would be happy to be making more money just for sanity's sake

Nothing wrong with that. It's great to be happy when nice things happen to you. Your problem, however, is that you are unhappy when those nice things don't happen. You've become a slave to the rush you feel as you earn money, and you will always live to chase that dollar. How is that freedom or happiness?

Chill, you still make 55k a year before bonus. That’s not exactly flipping burgers. Plus, you have a bonus, and even though you said it’s "impossible" you also said college was impossible. Third, you can still search for better opportunities while working this job.

No, I'm pretty sure %99.9999 of humans would derive immense enjoyment from buying a private island and filling it with sex slaves. You can absolutely buy your way to happiness. Everything in life that brings happiness requires huge wads of cash, in gradually increasing increments, until you have a private island with on demand sex slave orgies.
