Treatment of depression is often unsuccsessful. It's usually extremely hard to get them to do the exhaustive regimens like exercising every day or taking initiative to socialize. The inability to do the regimens is a part of the disease, and even if they do manage to follow through it's still not given that the depression goes away. Even after years (high functioning depression). You are per definition wrong.

Modern research suggests that a certain type of inflammation is the cause of many of the symptoms of depression. Some genotypes has a much larger chance of developing it.

Go outside, forests or mountains. Take up a new sport that exhausts you. Do it a lot. Don’t think about what makes you sad. Learn to detach yourself from your past. Treatment and psychologists rarely work and didn’t work for me. Try the stuff I mentioned above.

Like others have said nutrition and exercise is a big help. Magnesium was a good consideration as it plays a large role in well being. With exercise brain fog is decreased and general spirits are elevated.
Another beneficial supplement would be natural psychotropics shown to improve mental clarity. Soldiers with PTSD have tested psilocibin mushrooms with positive results. Others have stated this as well as use of other substances like DMT or DMT containing Ayahuasca, and salvia divinorum.

More information and recommended plants, methods, steps, and dosages can be found online. Always gather information from knowledgable sources before using something. Many use erowid.org to learn more about substances.
