Is it only me who finds strange that if you ask anybody the chemical formula of water they instantly now that it's H2O, but if you ask the formula of fire literally nobody knows the answer??? Those damn teacher don't teach it for some reason... Is this some secret conspiracy by, dare I say... ahh okay this is not /pol/, but still. Or are people firephobic or something?

Fire is a visible chemical reaction taking place, not a molecule itself.

I literally just posted the formula and it got deleted almost Instantly. Is this banned on /sci/ for some reason? Are we getting trolled?

>thinking fire is even real

next time you see it try and grab it in your hands
you cannot
it's an illusion

Not a chemfag, but I don't recall any of the phlogiston theories ever coming up with anything like an actual formula. On the other hand, the rival oxidation theory could make precise quantitative predictions of mass and volume (2 part H + 1 part O (by weight) = water), which was decisive in helping it win the "chemistry war".

Incidentally, looking at the Wikipedia page for theories of phlogiston, I'm reminded of the attempts at a "theory of consciousness" proposed by today's researchers. If history is any guide, a significant proportion of them will be finding that their entire life's work has been a waste of time.

Fire is an element, it has no formula for it is the building block of other formulas

Fire and water are the same thing.
water = 2H2O = 2H2 + O2 = fire

Hmm, they are the same but I think they are the two ends of a spectrum
Like sexuality is one thing, at one end hetero the other end gay. In this example water is hetero, a beautiful ocean for instance, gay is fire, like a housefire that kills people.

This is why water puts out fire: other example: its like matter and antimatter. When they meet they disappear. Just like when water puts out fire.

Exactly like at the first example: when a hetero and a gay meet, the hetero beats the shit out of the gay one so he dies, but the hetero goes to jail because of it, they both disappear

I like it when the same idea applies for different kinds of things in science
