why doesn't electricity just bleed out from the wires and into the air and electrocute us all?

>> No.10961368

Electricity will take the path of least resistance towards ground, which in this case is through a wire.

I don't believe in electricity.
Tiny balls of lightning magically going through solid metal cables? Get real!

Electricity is mostly a myth. It's a cover story and security system for what REALLY powers modern technology. If an average monkey brain tries to open his computer, he gets a mild shock, sees a little lightning bolt, and gets scared. Anyway, if you want to learn more, look up "tesla alien contact".

For electricity to freely travel through the air it must have a really strong electric field. This causes a "dielectric breakdown" in the air turning it into a plasma and making the air work like a wire for a little bit. So electricity doesn't travel through the air because almost every electric field you see is way too weak.

Another way that electricity could travel through the air is with electromagnetic waves, but any waves you encounter in an ordinary day are way too weak to do anything. If they were strong enough to do anything with, they would heat the air and stuff way too much anyways.

Also, the explanation that air has a way higher resistance than a wire is also good.

Basically this. Using the hydrologic analogy this is equivalent to asking why the water doesn't just burst out of the pipes. It will if the pressure/voltage is high enough.

If electricity is water, then what is induction between two lakes or rivers? Do water radio waves cause the tides?

Electricity travels in pipes

If you cut the pipe and stick you tongue in it you will get electrocuted

Same if you cut a water pipe it will shoot out and you will drown

this. Photons aren't real. Electricity is just energy.

Resistivity of air is on the order of [math]10^{16}(\Omega\cdot m)[/math].
