More specifically, Sperber's relevance theory, stemming from Gricean pragmatics.
I need some help understanding a few questions regarding the Sperber and Wilson's Relevance: Communication and Cognition (1996).

P.S. I'm afraind this is not the best place in 4chan to make this request. That being the case, I'd be glad if you can suggest a better place to discuss this topic.

Thanks in advance.

Fuck Sperger's relevance theory how do i into psychiatry

Having seen discussions on the view of psychology as non-scientific, I would also be willing to prove my point that cognitive psychology is in fact highly methodological and does sustain its status a scientific field.
As a token of reliability, I suppose you would probably relate to one of my views on a particular area of psychology, one that has been generally assumed as the whole of psychology, I accord with the view, still much argued among scholars of psychology, that understands the psychoanalytic approach to the human mind as not being sustainable on solid scientific ground.

What exactly do you mean by that?
Even though psychiatry and cognitive psychology do inevitably intersect in some theoretical aspects, psychiatry is a subfield of medicine.
Psychiatry deals with human behaviour and cognition on organic/physiological basis. That grants the field undisputed reliability.
Cognitive psychology, on the other hand deals with the expressions of the human brain in behaviors that prove to be comprehensive of all human beings. Differently from older (some will say 'classical') approaches to human psychology, when cognition is addressed, the methods must rely on, and be confirmed by neurological reality, under penalty of not being accepted in this specific community.

Sorry if I bothered you, I just wanna talk about the topic. I assumed it would be OK to use that language, having seen people talking like that in some discusion in /sci/.
I understand you seeing me as pretentious, I would talk to average people like that. The thing is, I thought people would judge it normal here.
I can respond to your arrogance saying: I am not sure if it's not the general prejudice against psychology that made you react like that. Would be offended if it was about physics or maths? Not sure lol

Thank you a lot! It seems like you are the only one who could help me with what I came here for.
Not that impressed with the negative reaction of the rest of the anons. Losing their time opening a thread, opening a reply window, writing and sending it to something that they presumably reject.
Thanks to my background in psychology I can figure out what that means.
/sci/ and other boards are nice places to discuss a number of topics, but only the ones accepted by the status quo of the community. Here it proves to be a quite conservative-leaning one.

The thing is, Freud, Jung and all this guys that under the label of psychoanalysis, have spread an approach tha is non-scientifical, more philosophical maybe, not to say some of it can be seen as esotericism.
What I wanna say is: Something started in the 60's, with Grice, it didn't get that much attention then. Cognitive psychology, as we call it now, was better developed in the 80's and 90's, notably by Sperber. This relatively new approach to the human mind (the expressions of our brains that can actually be observed via our actions) uses scientific method with the same rigor as physics, chemistry, molecular biology, etc.
The problem is: until now people still think about psychology as the Freud-created psychoanalytic approach.

Totally agree, assuming you are thinking about the common sense about psychology. That is Freud and psychoanalysis. Until recently that was indeed pretty much the only thing we had and what the majority of therapists followed.
I think it can be useful to read some of the previous posts, I explain that better in them!

>Anyone into cognitive psychology?
off topic to your question but psychology was a great interest when I wanted to know how the brain functioned so I could try and use my brain most efficiently. Watched Jordan Peterson's physch vids and Joe rogan vids aftewards I felt the need to take math courses at community college. Currently wrapping up the calculus series.
