I consider the technical names to be Sol and Luna.

We are the SOLar system, after all. If aliens came to Earth, we would call our sun Sol so that they have a name for it.

They just aren't adopting those names officially because some languages use Sol or Luna for Sun/Moon. At least, that's probably one of the reasons.
