How do you cope with the fact that a large portion of science and math is something a human being cannot possibly rationalize in a common sense way?

You are supposed to "make sense of the world", but on some level you just have to put blind faith in what has already been established. You cant just go around questioning everything because that ultimately just leads to madness, but at the same time something might technically work even if the reasoning is wrong.

How the fuck do you deal with this problem? Am I just supposed to shut up and say "It just werks."?

Human beings have massively different psychologies and widely different aptitude for comprehending abstraction. It doesn't bother me if lesser minds cannot grasp the beauty of this mathematical universe: sure as a proof, certain as an algorithm, pure as a theorem. I can yammer with Yahweh, shimmy with Shiva, and stroke the face of 1.

For I have a gift, for I work wonders, for I am free.

For I am a scientist.

Intelligence comes only with a lack of intelligence
Humanity is forever bound to dwell in ignorance obfuscated thanks to themselves by their own little circle of intellectually interpreted data that resonates amongst their own species.
We're idiots that taught themselves they get to understand their own existence, all you speak of is a part of a smaller subset of this delusion. It appears it doesn't matter, though we would never know.

>WE LITERALLY cannot understand it
Not in the sense than we, common people, idiots, cannot understand it, only, a couple of scientist can. Even they cannot.
In what sense? In the sense that
IT JUST WERKS

We'll never know anything with absolute certainty. Just take the skeptic pill and accept it. The only knowledge actually worth anything is whatever works.

no, it make sense, you must meditate on it, think about it, until you have a profound understanding

You can rationalize, you're just a lazy fat burger. Also math is a fantasy, it has nothing to do with the world.
