I genuinely wanted to study physics at uni. I always grasped concepts very quickly but struggled with maths. I studied very hard and spent a lot of my free time even as a teen reading. I failed to get into the courses I wanted to despite that and some private tutoring (as often as I could afford). It sincerely depresses me that I am not better at maths, and to this day (26 now) I feel a lot of self loathing for this inability

pretty sure there's an iq/intelligence threshold to "understand" maths, once you're beyond that, it's mostly just practise and doing questions. a lot of women, especially white, unfortunately don't make that threshold cut off and hence the "I'm just not good at math XD"
