If you live, work, or go to school within 1,500 feet of a highway, you are probably inhaling highly polluted air which decreases IQ and causes many health problems, including dementia.

This is true, but the typical wind direction, humidity, and precipitation change the effect. Most schools are actually next to highways. I think HVAC systems have air filters for indoor air pollution too, although I'm not sure. i would feel very surprised if they did not use such an obvious solution to decrease indoor air pollution.

This bothers me, as I do not see a solution. Idd your college is next to a highway, then what can you do?
