Are there really people whose every thought must be formulated with some kind of internal monologue? It seems so alien to me to be limited to only what you can describe in words or images

I think like right when doing math.
Left when I'm debating with myself.
Really frustrating when I'm trying to explain something in math that my brain hasn't "converted" from right to left. Anyone else get that feeling?

You know I don't think I spend much time at all thinking about what I will do in the moment or planning in advance. Most actions taken seem provoked by external stimuli which is beyond my control. I'm rather reactionary, making choices rapidly in the heat of the moment.

Makes me wonder who is actually driving this meat prison.

What's it like having the mind of a cow, OP?
https://sjmagazine.net/april-2015/temple-grandin
>Temple Grandin did not speak until she was 4 years old. Today, she delivers lectures to packed crowds at universities and conferences. The 67-year-old is one of the country’s foremost animal science scholars, a prolific author, a university professor and, arguably, the most famous living person with autism.
>She redesigned slaughter facilities, and today more than half of all U.S. cattle are moved through restraint chutes she invented. The chutes, along with Grandin’s curved cattle lanes, are designed to calm the animals prior to slaughter. Her handiwork inspired the BBC documentary “The Woman Who Thinks Like a Cow,” a title that Grandin sees as an accurate assessment.
>"Animals don’t think in words, they think in specific images. They’re sensory-based thinkers. That’s me – everything in my mind is a picture."

You can think without words and images. It’s probably the same subconscious process that underwrites internal monologue, except that it just doesn’t waste its time being translated into words and comes as an instantaneous awareness

I do internal monologues when I'm trying to come up with an argument, but often things make sense in my head but I find it hard to describe in words, so it's not limited to. But your mindset is all wrong. Putting your thoughts into a coherent argument doesn't limit you, what limits you is your lack of domain over your language and inability to formulate your thoughts as a coherent argument.

i know that feel

>> No.10883558

My grandma, my mom, my sister, and I all have an inner commentary constantly running. It feels like I have a constant stream of commentary about almost everything I am doing, while the part that is directly me thinks abstractly. When I talk out loud it makes a lot of tasks a lot easier, no matter what I'm talking about because it gives that annoying voice a focus. When I really get into something though I start thinking in words and images and sounds and feelings back and forth. It gets tiring quickly though.

Does anyone else have something like that?
