An eternal afterlife dimension would certainly have a vastly more evolved understanding or morality than we likely ever will. Reincarnation? There's some data out of the University of Virginia that's been controversial but Carl Sagan says it's probably the best data of its sort in the Demon Haunted World. But the more I think about the hard problem of consciousness the more certain I become that mind at large, or a greater consciousness is real. When you record video of a conscious person, the 2D representation of that person is not also conscious when you play it back. When you delete the video, you are not deleting the conscious person. You're just deleting a video. When all the molecules that used to make up your body disperse, the conscious awareness that resided among them remains unaccounted for, unlike in a deleted video, where there was no consciousness to be accounted for to begin with.
