Guys I need some help with a take home test. My teacher is a moron and can't teach for shit so I need some help here. I tried everything I could before asking you guys so I'm not being a lazy prick.

First, I need the distance between these pairs...

A(5, 2) and B(5, -2)

C(1, 1) and D(3, 2)

E(-4,0) and F(-6, 3)

Need this simplified

√ 100
_____
√ 2
.
.
.
√ 15 * √ 6
.
.
.
√ 5 * 45
.
.
.
√ 56
____
√ 7
.
.
.
Need these simplified by rationalizing the denominator

√ 5
___
√ 3
.
.
.
14
___
√ 7
.
.
.
3
______
5-√ 15
.
.
.
4
_______
5+√ 5
.
.
.

I'm a moron because my teachers fail at teaching? Also I was out for most of the week when we learned this.

Distance between 2 points...OP...Open the textbook, there is a simple as fuck formula for this. Use it.

>> No.1074063

Look up the distance formula on Wikipedia. That's part A.

Part B and C needs knowledge of rules of exponents (realize that a square root is simply an alternate method of expressing a number to the one half power). Look those up.

Not sure wut do with part D.

Really can someone just help me, even if not the answers can someone just explain how to do this crap?

>> No.1074080

for the distance do x1-x2, y1-y2 and find the hypotenuse

for the rest learn to factor integers... seriously this is fucking elementary

>> No.1074143

What grade are you in OP? , i did this shit in like 8th grade.

>> No.1074148

distance has been explained

to simplify you have to know how to manipulate radicals:
for instance, sqrt 100 is the same as sqrt 25 * sqrt 5
sqrt 25 is the same as 5 so sqrt 100 can be simplified to 5*sqrt 5

to rationalize the denominator you need to take the radical out of the denominator.
since you can't actually change the number, you ahve to multiply it by 1.
obviously just doing the number*1 accomplishes nothing, so we would write 1 as something like sqrt(3)/sqrt(3)

so sqrt(5)/sqrt(3) * sqrt(3)/sqrt(3) is still the same as your original number, but now it is written as sqrt(15)/3

the other ones are simple, you just need to get them all in the same form so you can add and subtract them(2sqrt(12)-4sqrt(12) is -2sqrt(12))

A-B
d=sqrt((x2-x1)^2+(y2-y1)^2)
d=sqrt((5-5)^2+(-2-2)2)
d=sqrt(0+16)
d=4

simplify
sqrt(100)/sqrt(2)
sqrt(2*2*5*5)/sqrt(2)
sqrt(2*2)*sqrt(5*5)/sqrt(2)
2*5/sqrt(2)
10/sqrt(2)

denominator
sqrt(5)/sqrt(3)
sqrt(3)*sqrt(5)/(sqrt(3)*sqrt(3))
sqrt(15)/3

the last
2*sqrt(27)-2*sqrt(75)
2*sqrt(3*3*3)-2*sqrt(3*5*5)
2*3*sqrt(3)-2*5*sqrt(3)
6*sqrt(3)-10*sqrt(3)
-4*sqrt(3)
