Intro to modern algebra, we’re writing proofs and I’m too low IQ to do it. I don’t even know how to start them, it just seems to flow from step to step when my professor does it but he always knows exactly how to start all of them. I’m too low IQ to even know where to start and too low IQ to know what assumptions to make. It fucking hurts finding out I’m too stupid for these things.

I just don’t know how to start any of them, that’s the same advice the textbook gave. I’m just too low IQ for this, my brain freezes up. Everything looks obvious when I see someone else shows me but when I have to do it myself, nothing comes out. It hurts so bad.

I think it is something you can practice. There are techniques that get used in many different proofs and I know personally I've developed a sense for when each needs to be used. Part of it is a natural ability but it's also part experience, so don't just give up

Also, adding on further we live in societies full of people who are literally brain damaged. I'm one of them, you're one of them. They all are, to varying degrees, and with varying manners of adaptation. This is the core problem must be addressed, people should not be brain damaged on every front. There is nothing more important than the health of you and THE children, not just YOUR children. I'm sick of all these worthless coward degenerates that just want to put their head int he sand and hide. All these so called "men" and "fathers" that are just going to let them poison, and clamp, and vaccinate, and irradiate their children.

Time for a major change. I don't know what your problem really is but it's probably solvable. My advice, advice I've rarely been able to take, is to swallow your pride and admit you don't know. Open yourself up to vulnerability and looking stupid while someone is able to watch you stumble and not understand. Your anger, frustration, and shame comes from this fear of being seen. It may be that you simply must make yourself visible, ask your professor for help.

The problem is definitely the language difference because it's really simple and requires logic and reasoning capabilities. I remember when I first took algebra and started learning sets and words like domain, range, and that kind of thing. Pretty simple stuff and yet a lot of people can't follow thought flow from point A > B > C. That's how you think when doing proofs, your thoughts have to flow, think IF/THEN.

This is the kind of thing that made me quit my CS courses, I always sucked. You have to remember EVERY SINGLE fact about whatever your proofs are about and recall all these details when you write your proof. Think for example what you know about prime numbers if you're trying to prove something about them, keep everything related in mind during the entire process.

Read the first two or three chapters of Book Of Proof. You'll eventually get the hang of it and feel more confident in your assignments.
