I have some fringe hypotheses that fall under the umbrella of "medical sciences." Problem is, I can't further pursue my investigations because I don't have the knowledge nor the lab equipment to do so.
My question is, can I teach myself biochemistry, cell biology, physiology or pharmacology? If so, will I be able to get to a certain degree of knowledge in which I'll be able to conduct medical research on my own (and possibly contribute something new to the field)?

>inb4 just go to med school bro
I don't have the means to invest +7 years into it.

maybe if you practice in some third world shit hole where medical licenses and exams aren't a thing

If you have to ask. No.

Like?
You already admit you don't have the training, have you at least done some searching on PubMed to confirm some aspects of your hypotheses are valid? That's the very least you can do.

I have already taught myself other disciplines and skills. But I don't know how high the knowledge barrier is in order for me to conduct research.

>Like?
Nice try... But you are not robbing my ideas.

>You already admit you don't have the training, have you at least done some searching on PubMed to confirm some aspects of your hypotheses are valid? That's the very least you can do.
There are no studies done in relation to my hypotheses. Probably because that kind of research wouldn't attract funding.

It is not just the knowledge barrier, that is the minor problem, it's the "lab instruments are expensive" barrier that makes it impossible.

Yes, that's a huge problem.

Ok. Name one instrument that will confirm or disprove your hypothesis, and in what context you'd use it.

In theory yes but for starters you will be undertrained compared to just going to med school and you unless your on a millionares trust fund funding anything actually fun and interesting will be a challenge.

>>10719225
If your research wouldn't attract foundings that means it has no social values and therefore is not a contribute to the field.
Do you even know how scientific research works?

Without doxing yourself,
what is the general realm you are interested in researching in?
What is the general area/country you are located in?
Do you have thousands of dollars (at least 1000) to spend on this project?
Do you need human or animal test subjects (This will render your project nearly instantly unfeasible)
Do you intend on doing heavy gene editing? (This may require electroporation, which requires an expensive high voltage instrument, or you might make one yourself and risk electrocution)

>implying medical doctors are the ones doing medical research
most research is conducted by PhD's and Master's graduates, with occasional bachelors.

Or maybe because the results wouldn't do any good to certain interests, i.e. negative side effects of a product produced by a multi-million dollar industry.

No. Also you shouldn't. Whatever your hypothesis is, it's 100% bullshit.

>> No.10720399

You absolutely can, problem is the money since unless you got alot of stacks to spend on a home lab you doomed
it depends on the project anyway, say for example mamalian cells HAHHAHA good luck with that if you ain't shtting hundos out your ass you ain't gonna do anything related

Just fabricate a gene gun and let god sort them out.
You'd probably gain more credit for live human trails of randomized splicing of DNA and their effects in a uncontrolled environment.
More so than anyone ever before and undoubtedly to come after you if you put in the effort.

Nobody would voluntarily go through the bullshit that medical students go through. You're unlikely to get their exhaustive and exhausting overview of current medical knowledge on your own steam.
You'd be better off focussing on plant biology or small-scale inventing (what designs can you prototype with a 3d printer?) than something as vast and mortally fuck-upable as medical science.

>> No.10721325

>>10719125

Probably not to be honest. Also if you're interested in research going the medical school route isn't the best idea. You're better off just doing a PhD. Maybe move to a country where education is free.

>> No.10721959

>>10719125
Absolutely not. Bioscience research is not like programming where you can do it from your bed. Labs are very hard to access, and so is the equipment. Setting up a lab and procuring the medical reagents is impossible anyway if you don't have funding and clearance. Basically if you didn't go through the bio/biochem university route you're not going to be able to do anything.

>medical Doctors doing research
Why would you willingly succumb yourself to doing 5X the work and 1/3 X the pay when you’ve slogged through medical school which took a toll on you both mentally and financially.

80% of Doctors come out to practice medicine. NOT RESEARCH.
