Dude I did prépa in Paris and did terrible, all my friends who dropped out of mathsup(!) not only got into schools better than mine, they got into school better than the top of my étoile class. They dropped out of fucking Michelet and got into Supelec, ESPCI, Centrales Pa, Mines et Métiers. Besides these top schools are even more competetive and cut-throat, I dont think I would have as much of an advantage trying to connect and be-friend my Princeton professors than becoming close associates with my professors at state schools who have good credentials and connections and will write me letters of recommendations and actually have fantastic conversations with because the classes are smaller and there is less competetion due to the surrounding brainlets. Nepotism is more rampant and likely at the top schools as well.

I'm from California and transferred from a California community college to UCLA. They tie up funding to accepting LA county students and California community colleges, if you read the student newspaper the schools administration can't keep up with inflating population so they're going to lower their enrollment rate for the next 5-6 years
