Why do many of the posters on /sci/ project their self-proclaimed intelligence all day? Why are they obsessed with the concept of being thought of as very smart by others? Do they not realize that nobody actually cares, and it's in fact a turnoff for friends and relationships? Not saying friends are all there is to life, but I'm saying there's more to life than trying to become the next world-famous genius (tip: you won't if this is your motivation). If you keep this up until your 40's, people will just be anxious of being around you.

A low sense of worth. They must act smart to feel like they aren't worthless. Usually when people get older and "make it" in life they stop being so egotistical.

/sci/ isn't half as bad as the general crowd of any of my science classes or jobs
the worst offenders are just-above-average intelligence fags who are insecure, actual smart people are usually cooler
