>takes me a year to read and comprehend 3 chapters of a basic calculus book
why the fuck am i such a low iq brainlet, anons? holy fuck, am i actually retarded? Please tell me there is someone on this board that's as much of a downie as me--I don't want to be alone in my stupidity.

>> No.10694456

No you're not retarded man. Try learning a different way, like reading a calculus 2 first lmao

>> No.10694466

just do the problems

Stop smoking weed, going on your phone, get off 4chan, stop hanging out with brainlets or people in general if they aren't benefitting you. Then test to see if you are a brainlet.

suck my pp anon and i'll tell you all the secrete. >:)

>tfw no weed or people to hang out with
>still helplessly retarded
i will admit to being distracted, though. some problems take me hours to understand. Initially, on its face I'll understand the problem, but then I focus too much on the intricacies or the notation and it leaves me with 10 other questions. My lack of progress in basic shit while every fucking European freshman math undergrad is doing differential topology or whatever the fuck is utterly demoralizing

You're not dumb, you just haven't been motivated by the beauty and application of calculus to learn it. For instance, I love all analysis and logic but hate abstract algebra and topology. Find YouTube videos.

Intelligence is truly the greatest privilege one can possess. I loathe the fact that I am a brainlet.

>> No.10695952

>>10694467
I can do calculus while moderately high on weed, there's no evidence to suggest weed has any kind of long term effect on intelligence so stop spreading this "weed makes you dumb" lie

>> No.10695959

>>10694452
Intelligence is not defined by your ability to do calculus. Just because you don't have raw computational power does not mean that you cannot develop a repertoire of learned skills. I'm sure you are good at many other things anon. You wouldn't say a doctor has less intelligence than a farmer because the doctor doesn't know anything about soil.

Degenerate retard junkie.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4034083/
>Patients with schizophrenia are more prone to substance abuse than the general population [4]. Among them, 25% have a lifetime prevalence of cannabis abuse/dependence, the most widely used illicit psychoactive substance
>In regular users, cannabis induces euphoria, perceptual illusions, tachycardia, analgesia, memory and concentration alterations, and other cognitive deficits.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3138655/
>A number of studies suggest a dysregulation of the endogenous cannabinoid system in schizophrenia (SCZ).
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4104335/
>In the present study, we investigate (using Voxel-based Morphometry) gray matter changes in a group of regular cannabis smokers in comparison with a group of occasional smokers matched by the years of cannabis use. We provide evidence that regular cannabis use is associated with gray matter volume reduction in the medial temporal cortex, temporal pole, parahippocampal gyrus, insula, and orbitofrontal cortex
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2424288/
>There is now reasonable evidence from longitudinal studies that regular cannabis use predicts an increased risk of schizophrenia and of reporting psychotic symptoms.
https://www.drugabuse.gov/news-events/nida-notes/2016/09/regular-marijuana-use-associated-differences-in-brain-gray-matter-connectivity
>A NIDA-funded brain imaging study has shown that regular users of marijuana have less gray matter than nonusers of the drug in the orbitofrontal cortex (OFC), a brain region that contributes to impulse control, decision-making, and learning. Such a deficit could make it more difficult to change counterproductive behaviors, including drug use.

https://centerforanxietydisorders.com/can-medical-marijuana-increase-anxiety/
>THC, the primary chemical in marijuana, is believed to stimulate areas of the brain responsible for feelings of fear.
>According to available scientific literature, people who use weed have higher levels of depression and depressive symptoms than those who do not use cannabis.
>Frequent or heavy use in adolescence can be a predictor of depression or anxiety later on in life – especially for girls.
>Even if using cannabis seems to alleviate symptoms in the short-term for some users, it can lead to delay in getting appropriate treatment.
>A 2015 study found that university-aged young adults are more likely to have a higher risk of developing depression from heavy marijuana use.

War on drugs has been on for 40 years now and this is still the best you old retards can scrape up to try and scare people away from smoking a plant that humans have been ingesting for thousands of years.

Cannabis only causes schizophrenia in people who have a genetic propensity for schizophrenia from the get go.
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/317170.php
The grey matter reduction is counterbalanced by an increase in neural connectivity, meaning the actual effect on brain function is negligible, you do more damage to your brain from regular drinking.
https://www.theguardian.com/society/2014/nov/10/cannabis-smoking-brain-shrinks-increases-connectivity-study-texas
And yeah, the anxiety link is an obvious result of ingesting a hallucinogenic substance and anyone who takes it is aware of that. You won't suffer long term anxiety effects unless you don't know how to manage anxiety already.

There we go, your whole list of shit studies debunked. So sad, bet you spent an hour compiling that just to try and slam someone on 4chan for smoking weed.

This used to be me. Just stick with it. It get's easier. BUT, the key is, you gotta really spend time thinking hard about your problems. Don't just give up after 20 minutes and look at the solution. Really try hard to solve things on your own, using your own reasoning and logic.

The problem isn't that you're not smart enough. The problem is that you haven't practiced deep thought enough. At least that's my guess. Again, I used to be in your boat, and now I'm publishing papers.

Mathematics don't work like the real world. You can't read everything, there's no "deeper truth" or real intuition to it. You need to study a lot and practice a lot. Calculus is pretty hard and 95% of society never really gasps how you can actually use it, this includes many engineers and quite a few mathematicians even.

Remember it's just a tool made out of symbols, not some kind of deeper truth, don't go looking for meaning in math like you would with physics.

my huge problem with math is precisely it's lack of meaning, it's so dry, it's unbearably painfaul to learn.
