I never said it was a panacea that instantly reduces weight, it can reduce some weight when used intelligently and it can reduce a lot of complexity when used intelligently, neither did I claim it was the best process, just a better process than piecing rockets together with hundreds or even thousands of small individual hand-tuned components which cost millions of dollars and thousands of man-hours to complete. I'd appreciate not being grossly misrepresented. I haven't heard of whatever loom process is being used to manufacture hypersonic aircraft parts though, what components does it manufacture, what problems does that process overcome, and do you have a link to where that process is discussed because it sounds interesting.

somewhat related, i think it would be interesting to see which charities these people with ungodly amounts of money actually donate to.

if i were rich and had good intentions, i'd focus a lot of my spare time on improving colleges, and i'd certainly build one or two small colleges. i think that's a good legacy to leave behind. lots of alumni donate, but how many of them take an active role? i think that would be a good pet project for someone with gobs of money.
