WTF?

That's like saying:

Short answer: no
Long answer: maybe ....... ?

This, I can't stand redditors worship of science to the point where it's literally a litmus test for good or bad. Makes me want to go back into mathematics and philosophy

yes it is. in the spiritual sense.

there are basic responses from doing it but you'll probably just get the same benefits laying down and taking a fucking break.

the benefits are really small, like the minuscule negative effects of jerking off. Just do both at the same time and you'll zero sum.

what responses do you mean and how small are they?

you mind becomes bored and it trains your brain to deal with boredom. it also leaves your muscles in a relaxed state which will clam your brain.
it doesn't turn you into a god though, unlike nofap or whatever.
there is no spirit stuff involved, it is simply low tier science.

again you could probably just take a nap or lay down and it'll have the same effect.

You shouldn’t conjecture about something if you don’t even know what it is, same as OP but he is probably a kid genuinely asking.

For something to be pseudoscience it has to pretend to be scientific. So if someone or some type of meditation is making unfounded scientific claims about meditation, that is pseudoscience. Meditation on its own cannot by definition be pseudoscience.

Some types of meditation, buddhism, etc, are more of a protoscience. They try to make observations of the mind under meditatively altered states but do to the nature of the whole process it is very hard.

It is already proved by sicentific that meditation actually effective especially Buddhism meditation like breathing meditation, sensation meditation and analytical meditation.

it's a religious thing, you meditate to detect yourself from your ego
It has nothing to do with stress relief or being calm, can a Buddhist back me up?

you won't feel less stress if you practice meditation but you might stop running through bad routines when you're stressed because you've practiced not reacting.

>you won't feel less stress if you practice meditation
there are many types of meditation
meditation can be as simple as rhythmic breathing, which is guaranteed to reduce stress

I feel like people ITT hear the word meditation and are imagining some skinny guy in lotus position chanting. Personally, I feel like meditation is so basic and varied most people do it unconsciously while taking a shit. What I mean is meditation CAN be a religious experience, or it can be something anyone can do/everyone has done at some point. There's so many variations of meditation that it's unfair to say they're all wrong, just because you don't like 1.

>protoscience
Nice word to describe Buddhist methodology, I appreciate that.

And OP, the question is nonsensical. What do you even mean? Meditation is an activity. It is purported to achieve several kinds of aims. Individuals who perform it consistently do report these ends being felt by them. Empirical studies showcase a marked difference in the brains of meditators. And above all, why not simply attempt it yourself and see what you experience?

It works. It helps you recognize and overcome negative thoughts you don't control.

Like if you have social anxiety, with practice, you can reduce the severity and frequency of amygdala hijacks with meditation.
