What is fuel tape exactly?

>> No.10676272

hint 1: it's not "fuel"
hint 2: it's on tape

>> No.10676277

Is it ionizing the tape to create propulsion? That explains the need for a lot of it.

this is legit how I thought vcrs worked as a kid

......it's solid fuel fed into the combustion chamber by a tape instead of by pressure (as you would use for a gas or liquid). Not much to guess.

To put it in simpler terms: imagine if you had a coal-powered steam locomotive whose firebox used a regular water heater piezo element. However instead of manually shoveling the lumps of processed coal in manually or mixing it with oil to make a slurry, you carefully cut it into flat rectangles which are attached to a small ceramic or paper chain creating a coal tape. It is then fed in using a pulley system as described in the OP image.

It's the same with lasers as the ignition source, but the fuel is something like Uranium and the goal is to create nuclear fission or nuclear fusion. I'm assuming OP's image is some sort of nuclear reactor design (with the "Plasma jet" being the hot thing that heats up some sort of fluid that is fed into a turbine).

FYI this is what a gunpowder engine more or less is, you can see why it didn't become the dominant form of internal combustion engines. This is also how pebble bed reactors work, sort of. A fuel tape magazine is not that much different from a firearm magazine, although the latter requires a mechanical device (the firearm's bolt) to physically load the fuel into the chamber for ignition (also as an engine, it is heinously inefficient).

By recording embarrassing video one can harvest energy from the shame that projecting them to an audience would cause to the person who is recorded.
