I want to try my hand at math and see if its something I would enjoy. Where do I start? Any textbooks?

From here move onto calculus, should be a trivial jump. You dont need anything in between

I can’t speak for everyone but I was such a fucking loser in high school who wanted to make friends and be like the popular kids and I fucked myself over when I didnt sign up for AP at the end of 8th grade even though I was in the high IQ English class based off of standardized tests. So then I just accepted that I was going to do high school through chill mode and the more and more that I socially failed the more depressed I got and I started to focus on music and art instead of school and attributed academic achievement to normalfag shit. I did ok but not as well as I should have, I easily could have the top 10 of my class with the work ethic I now have and my passion for studying. Math was just a terrible path for me because my 9th grade algebra teacher failed almost all of us, we even got her fired because she was just the most unhelpful and terrible teacher but it didnt help that there were degenerate niggers in the class who disrupted the entire environment. After that I stopped caring about Math and just went on autopilot mode.

I now get straight A’s as an undergrad and am majoring in Math and re-discovered my love for it and am actually competent in it. The Algebra professor I had when I started was easily the best professor of Math I had been taught by. That and Khan Academy really helped.

Not everyone is stupid but some just make stupid decisions and get distracted.

checked
that's a meme chart you fucking dumbass.
here's what you want
>Arithmetic
Stoddard's Speed Mathematics Simplified
>Highschool Mathematics
Gelfand's books, supplement with Lang's basic mathematics or Axler's precalculus if you want, could also supplement with Khan Academy, or all 3.
>Calculus part 1
Spivak or Courant or Apostol. You can try Stewart if you're having a really hard time. Apostol is considered to be the best but you would NEED to buy his books physically, the pdfs on the internet are all corrupted, trust me.
>Calculus part 2
Continue with Courant/Apostol

That's how you start.

Thats official mg meme chart, friendo. Don't fall for it.

Symbols are incorrect since they're all badly vector-scanned pdfs. If you could find an official one to buy, or a pdf that is literally just pictures of physical pages, it would be fine, but I've checked everywhere and the only thing I could find was vector-scanned shit.
I checked quite a while back so maybe there are new ones somewhere, but I'd just buy physical or go with Courant if you wanted a pdf. I have the "official" courant pdfs and they're all good.

Any list you get off of here is super meme ridden.. best advice - find some OpenCourseware or other full online classes (Ted Chinburg is pretty good: https://www.math.upenn.edu/~ted/noframes.html ) and get the book they use for the topic... You can use these image book lists for directions of what topic to learn, but you will get more using a book along with lectures (and practice problems etc)

>t. used Chinburg to refresh linear algebra, very happy with process

What do you already know? Can you do basic algebra? We need info OP.

If you know nothing work on learning up to calculus first.

0. Watch a bunch of videos about various proofs
1. Pick a field of mathematics that seems interesting
2. Find a textbook, MOOC etc that you like
3. Look up everything you don’t understand as you go
And wala you are now a mathematician

Spivak is a good, cheaper alternative to Apostol though. I would also recommend working through Gelfand books with lang's book as an aid. Lang is better at explaining but Gelfand has better problems imo.

Really solid advice if you are starting at a basic math level.
