Just mention Bill Nye The Science Guy, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Stephen Hawking, Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein, Thomas Alva Edison, or Madame Curie.

Anyone of those will be impressive enough to get anyone off your back.
If they still keep pestering you, then throw in Louis Pasteur or Jonas Salk for good measure.

Why would people unqualified to talk about science ever speak about science? You are making this up as you go along, OP.

Oh yeah. Definitely mention barometric pressure and the rising sea currents. Anything that makes it sound like you know way more than you actually do and you can breeze by it.

One time an old guy heard that I was a mathematician and came out screaming that he had found a simpler formula for sphere volume. Since [math]V=\frac{4}{3}\pi r^3[/math] is a lot of multiplications and divisions, he claimed to have found a constant c such that [math]V= cr[/math], which is much easier to compute. I just gave up.

Window vibrating is patrician tier simply due to the rarity. I hope so just because of that. Next time someone tries to pretend they read scientific texts when they clearly don't, try and vibrate something. Maybe that's what I've been doing wrong...

I seem to remember the chicken and the egg question being answered, something about the egg needing certain proteins to form the egg shell that only a chicken could provide meaning only a "modern" chicken could make what we call a chicken's egg now.
