Take the politics out of it, we're all responsible.
Our future is going to be a much different world and we shouldn't feel ashamed or that we're the fist organism to alter the biosphere.
Things are going to change and many will die but man will adapt, learn and soldier on.
The Earth doesn't give a fuck, it'll start a new project if we die out.

Yes it's real. But that doesn't mean it's going to be a genuine threat for humanity. It's going to be a century or two before it'll impact daily human life which is a long time to develop technological solutions to the problem.

We could solve it today by switching to a 100% nuclear power source if we wanted. We don't do that because we don't like it but if the problem ever gets bad enough we'll be forced to so that means we already have a "Plan B" if everything else fails.

In the meantime people will try to cut consumption and "green energy" like solar and wind. Maybe they'll even succeed, most likely not but since we have a Plan B it doesn't matter.

If worst comes to shove we could put sulfates in the atmosphere which acts as a mirror that reflects a large % of sunlight away which would rapidly cool down the planet. It would be very radical and expensive but it's a last ditch solution that could give us some extra decades to fix the problem if we ever needed to.

All-in-all humanity is going to be fine since the solutions I outlined above is what we can do with current technology. Who knows what we can do in 100-200 years time when it becomes a legitimate problem (If cutting consumption and green energy didn't work out which is 95% chance)

It's stable/decreasing up until about 1960 where it peaks, then it peaks and starts climbing sort of hard around 1980.

A carbon tax is a market based solution, the goal is to make emissions cost money and let capitalism do its thing and optimize. You can then reinvest the revenue from the tax as needed. Australia for example gave most of it to citizens as rebates to offset the slightly higher energy bills. You could also use it to fund green energy/fusion research. The alternative to a carbon tax is just outlawing fossil fuel power plants and socializing the grid.

It's real and we're going into what's called a climate "optimum" which has happened twice in the past ten thousand years in which the global temperature spikes by a few degrees and then dips into a mini ice-age. This has happened a lot of times since the last major ice-age and also long before human populations began any kind of major industry or agriculture. Anthropogenic global warming however posits the absolutely objectively false notion that human beings "created" climate change, are the only major driving factor behind climate change, and are capable of ending climate change by the reduction of specifically CO2 production. The first premise is laughable, climate change has existed since the Earth has had a stable environment in which a climate may exist, and climate changes pre-humanity were much more dramatic, the period of time in which humans have walked the earth is notable for it's comparative climate stability. The second has some merit but like CO2 production of water vapor that merit has diminishing returns, the alarmism about CO2 in particular comes from an incorrect assumption that CO2 levels always impact water vapor levels, water vapor being a much stronger greenhouse agent to a point. AGW advocates believe that under all circumstances more CO2 creates more water vapor, eventually leading to a runaway greenhouse effect which can only be reduced by elimination of free CO2, however CO2 in the real world creates less and less water vapor the higher it's concentrations are and at a certain concentration will begin to contribute practically nothing to heat trapping or water vapor production, the same is true for water vapor as when it reaches sufficient concentrations it condenses into ground water or becomes clouds who's high albedo help to reject energy by reflection. The final belief, that national or international coalitions of governments are both able and willing to perform the necessary megaprojects to artifically hold Earth's climate in stasis is another fantastical and unsupported one. To actually put a halt to climate shift on the planet we need to artificially manage the energy flowing through this semi-closed system, that means humanity must control the amount of sunlight hitting the Earth, levels of various atmospheric greenhouse gasses, surface area covered by particular environments, etc. It's at least hypothetically possible for us to do this but in practical terms such an effort is a species-wide megaproject which would take centuries and incalculable amounts of wealth in resources to bring to fruition. The plans proposed by all governments are relegated to things like extra taxation, and restriction of conveniences like cars, restrictions on the extraction and use of fossil fuels (while also generally disavowing the use of more efficient methods like nuclear energy). Governments do not seek a solution because they don't care about a solution because all they're doing is using cherrypicked data to justify an expansion of their power structure, more control over people through taxes, more control over industry through regulation.

Who told you that? The same climatologists you claim are wrong? And if humans have always existed in such a "stable climate" doesn't that tell you you should be worried about leaving that climate?

>AGW advocates believe that under all circumstances more CO2 creates more water vapor, eventually leading to a runaway greenhouse effect

That's wrong though. The greenhouse effect is directly observed via radiative spectroscopy. That has nothing to do with looking at life. The fact that humans are responsible for the change in CO2 is causing the greenhouse can be seen by looking at the carbon isotope ratios in the air. Fossil fuel emissions have a different isotopic signature than plants and animals. So you don't have to look at the entire scope of life, you can just look directly at the results. the truth is that we don't know anything about the world, despite our highly specific 'science'...

the difference is that one side claims it is the truth and nothing but the truth, and the other side is always on the defensive because its livelihood and nations are being destroyed by the other side.

an honest man says, i don't know if man is causing it, a soviet/climatechangefag says 'i am the absolute truth, nothing else can be truth but me'

this is why religion caused so much suffering in the past? It's really just simple people with peanut sized brains making noise.

Intelligent people understand how little we know while stupid ones shout the loudest about what they think they know.

Vermin, cockroaches, a virus on the face of the planet. Humans do not create, we destroy, destroy, destroy. Check the side of the road as you travel from one place to the next. Count how many creatures we have "created". Every animal on the planet has a job, a task, a niche. What is ours? What is our job? What vital function would not be performed if we were missing? Idiots. Hubris at its finest. Good luck being worthless. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. We are all only ash and dust.

We're not crashing the global economy, only the West.
China will always however they please, and we're enabling them shrinking our own economies while importing from them.
We should take care of the planet but the currently proposed solutions by our governments and stuff like carbon credits is pure dystopian retardation and serves a very different purpose than protecting Earth.
If we're serious we need to stop economic growth, have sustainable societies and get rid of debt and interest that practically force us to grow. Slow down global trade except for the necessities, and tax consumption more severely, stop giving any aid to Africa.
Of course big corporations aren't interested in any of that, and they control our governments.

The question is never wether climate change is real. It is wether it's anthropogenic. You can SEE climate change if you look at glaciers etc. And if you want to ignore it you can read up on a couple TB of data collected over the past 30 years that are hard evidence for an increase in avg T.

Wether it is man-made or not is the debate and most independent research points towards it. Of course the people that profit from the main factors contributing to it (coal mines/meat industry/yadda yadda) are paying politicians and scientists to spread vague contradicting information.

If lobbyism wouldn't exist, this debate wouldn't too.

>> No.10651009

>Whether it is man-made or not is the debate
No it's not.
We can directly measure the impact of human activity on the composition of the atmosphere, and how that has changed the amount (and spectrum) of downward IR arriving at the surface. That's not a debate, that's a figurative smoking gun.
