HIV will mutate to being airborne one day because we didn't do what had to be done.

Eh, depends on which specific drug.

Also it is entirely possible that evolving a drug resistance neuters its pathological effects.

Basically, anything could happen, from apocalyptic catastrophe to it becoming a cold.

Not him but we could literally instantly eradicate HIV and all other STDs just by being prudish enough that each 1000 new infections go on to infect only 999 or fewer additional people.

Daily reminder that AIDS is most commonly spread not from "top" to "bottom" through infected ejaculate, but laterally from "bottom" to "bottom" via rectal tissues that remain on the "top"'s penis after intercourse. A healthy "top" can commit sodomy with as many as 30 "bottoms" in an afternoon in a homosexual club or bathhouse, and conversely a "bottom" can have intercourse with over 50 "tops". Homosexual promiscuity is absolutely essential to the spread of AIDS, as well as many other ills such as antibiotic-resistant syphilis.

I don’t doubt that being bottom will give you the highest chance of being infected, but do you have a source for the lateral transfer being higher than for top to bottom? I did a search for this and could only find stuff about top to bottom (or vice versa).

It’s should also be noted that it’s actually really hard to get AIDS from a single exposure to it, considering even being a bottom for a single exposure has a <2% infection rate. The fact that this community has such an issue with a disease that’s this uninfective should be an alarm bell.

How are they evolving so quickly and how are they evolving this separately? I'm assuming they're not all evolving as one big group. They're clusters.. Any explanation since I'm ignorant?

Are you talking about different strains of HIV evolving ART resistance seperately?
It’s similar to how different strains of bacteria can independently develop antibiotic resistances (not involving plasmid transferral). HIV has a high mutation rate, and the HIV viruses that are less affected by the drugs are the ones that create more of the next generation.
HIV is naturally going to be good at developing these resistances due to its high mutation rate and due to the disease being chronic and incurable, which means that the viral population of someone taking the drug is going to be exposed for a good couple of decades.
