>be me
>listening to infected mushroom on Youtube
>begin getting youtube advertisements for schizophrenia medications
>never been diagnosed with a mental illness
>just think infected mushroom is good music

Are these ads targeted, based on content, or are they randomized?

They are extremely targeted. That's where their money is.

So is there some implied relationship between people who listen to Infected Mushroom and schizophrenics???

I would love to read that paper, that sounds hilarious if there is actually data that backs it.

I wouldn't know at all about something so specific. I don't think there would be literature about something like that. However, google has huge amounts of data and they're probably best in the world about putting data to use, as well. They if any could find weird correlations. And even if they haven't, some ai thing could just have figured out small neat probability quirks like that even if theres no human actually planning that out or knowing about it.. I'm entering broscience territory here, I don't know so much about this topic.

Im sure it uses a computer AI algorithm to find “relationships” that pairs adds with people. These computer AI discover relationships that turn out to be false positive sometimes. Theres even been cases where AI become racist due to learning it from humans.

It’s possible one schizophrenic dude who listens to Infected Mushroom googled his meds every day till the AI became trained to associate those drugs with the band. It doesn’t take much to retrain an AI. Anons even trained the CAPTCHA bot to accept “NIGGERS” an a valid answer for every single captcha.

There's no implied anything, youtube recommendation engine is just a (manually tuned) statistical model which isn't able to "explain" its own behaviour. Maybe it found some vague linguistic similarity between "infection", "mushrooms" and "drugs" (not many associative hops required), or maybe psytrance listeners are more likely to search for drugs on average, or maybe it's neither one. Nobody really knows, including the recommendation engine developers, there's no way to trace it back.

Okay but that ad is obvious. The targeted ads I get that are based off of the thoughts that never leave my head are unexplained. I'll think of something specific, then an advertisement about that same exact thing will show up within 15 minutes. Could be coincidences but this has happened multiple times. I've also heard that Google searches can detect a woman's pregnancy before they themselves have realized it, I don't know if that's factual or a misrepresentation of facts, I'll link an article or study if I can find it.

Well yeah, people that listen to that kind of music tend to do a lot of psychoactive drugs.

You'll always go back to what you listened to in your teen years. I still put on daft punk and linkin park from time to time.

Just like your parents put on their 70s and 80s bullshit all the time as well.

>As Pole’s computers crawled through the data, he was able to identify about 25 products that, when analyzed together, allowed him to assign each shopper a “pregnancy prediction” score. More important, he could also estimate her due date to within a small window, so Target could send coupons timed to very specific stages of her pregnancy.
>One Target employee I spoke to provided a hypothetical example. Take a fictional Target shopper named Jenny Ward, who is 23, lives in Atlanta and in March bought cocoa-butter lotion, a purse large enough to double as a diaper bag, zinc and magnesium supplements and a bright blue rug. There’s, say, an 87 percent chance that she’s pregnant and that her delivery date is sometime in late August.

I shouldve left the second paragraph out because suddenly buying prenatal vitamins and a big purse is a dead give away. They also have predictions for the first trimester of pregnancy when the pregnant subject may not be aware yet. Also my original post, I dont know what kind of behavior I would do that would predict the exact time I think of a specific product. Either the robots have become psychic or I've had a few too many chanceful coincidences.

It could also just be that crowds drug of choice. Many online pharmacies sell prescription drugs to people who want them for recreational use and they'll even have a doctor on site to "diagnose" you over the phone

I bet you can just Google it. Make a list of of five or so potential suppliers and then Google their company names and look for any red flags. At least one of them will be legit and then you just call them up to get your drugs.

Beware of phishing scams
