Once you narrow down the males and females in grad school, your male population will be more valuable as it still has the same minimum as the female group, but has a greater likelihood of hosting more extreme geniuses than from the women's group. I've never onced watched an expert/scientist talk when I was a kid, and thought "wow they're my race/gender, that means I can do that too!"
For example I must have listened to countless Jap scientists, being my country is filled with them, and I'm not Japanese. At no time did I think I was inferior and it would be impossible because only ethnic Jap scientists were getting TV specials about physics or biology in the 1980s. Anecdote time. Friend's g/f (now wife) was a child prodigy, excelled at every course. Gets full scholarship to top university in my country. Gets full grant to top grad school in US for PhD.
Lauded in local newspapers as next regional genius, yadda yadda yadda. 3 years after getting her PhD wants babies, rich enough to afford child care but prefers to be with kids all day so quits her position. Kids are now in school F/T, she still doesn't want to go back to any kind of work preferring the housewife lifestyle of doing yoga with other mothers all day and hanging out in coffee shops. My friend (her husband) is working 12hrs a day and didn't blink when he kids were born, spending all his time doing research and not taking a single day off.

So essentially both our countries wasted money by subsidizing her costs to become a top scientist. I suspect every woman in that database pic will do the same thing: marry somebody wealthy, pop babies and not return.

I can understand their intentions.
They want to give science women more visibility in order to influence young women to pursue a career in science by utilizing how young women choose role-models.

This is ironic on two levels:
1) They are creating an "old-girls club", as >>10626533 put it
2) They are appealing to the sexist role-model selection process of the girls they are trying to influence instead of telling them it is OK to be inspired by men.

It's just that the society should do things with this necessity in mind instead of pretending that childless career women as a drop-in replacement for men is okay and sustainable.
