Well, when coupled with wanting to be liked by others it can be argued that narcissist don't just want to be very smart, they want to be acknowledged as such. Wanting to be smart by itself it's not a symptom, true, but most narcissists do want to, for the attention.

When you say "Desire to be liked by others," what about this makes it you consider it to be a factor in a disorder? Wanting to be liked is normal. Now, if you've got something going on along the lines of "I really want to be liked, but I'm so scared of failure/being ashamed/having to actually deal with other people that I stay miserably alone," then you might have avoidant personality disorder - but I doubt it. Most likely you're just a normal guy who is having some self-esteem issues.
