I have a masters degree in Physics and even I struggle with the holographic principle. I don't think that people are LARPing when they try to explain it.

It's more that they try to reduce the concepts to make it more graspable.

GR, M-theory and quantum invariance are all easier concepts to grasp than holographic principle and most people barely even grasp those other concepts, certainly not on this board.
