can I simply learn an entire college semester by just getting the 1000 college textobook page and just looking at the index and looking up every topic on a 10 minutes youtube video?

Learning is done differently by different learners. Checking the index is a great way to start studying a textbook. Understanding all the words / topics in the index is good too. It depends on the textbook, the index, and the quality of videos on the subject.

If you wanna learn quicker, research studying methods. Granted, don't trust just anyone's advice, I'm literally retarded.

Read the textbook always its better than lectures and much better than explainer videos

That's a pretty good idea and probably more efficient than reading the textbook. Especially if you do it before watching/going to the equivalent lectures. You may need some more detail than the short youtube vids can give in some cases. And Some subject you may need to practice problems on paper in order to get them into your memory, but that's pretty much it. This is how I have become much more efficient

Absolutely. It's what I've been doing and I get straight A's with this technique.

pretty dumb how they make everyone buy a textbook that costs up to $200 new and it's not even useful for learning, isn't it. It's deceptive, actually, because talentless students get bamboozled into thinking if they go through the textbook enough times they'll do well when in fact it's rather the opposite.

No.
But you can always get credit by exam. However most unis are greedy and won't let you get a degree just like that so there might be a limit of 15 credits for the whole degree, and you still have to pay the credits as if you took one plus some fee and the books.

Yes often this.

Though some books are bad, and some are partially bad (bad sections) in that case it's often best to look up a video made by Pajeet online who explains it much better than your western phd lecturer. At least this is the case in AI / CS / IS, probably similar for math as well.

Generally for STEM subjects: look at the powerpoints and learn the skills required for an exam. Look at some exams of past years, and look at the trend of questions asked. Learn how to solve such questions. Generally doing this you're fine for most courses.

For social sciences / history etc: sometimes attendance is needed by lazy profs who require you to write down what they say because not everything is in the book. In case its just an easy course where you have to do essays you do not need to attend a single lecture and can just write the essays and you'll pass. For exams learn everything on their powerpoints and read the book (no need for exact memorization, often it keeps hanging pretty well if you read some 1-3 days before exam).

im confused, how will you be conscructing your cirrciculum esp. when indexes will cross reference entries?

Because it's the kind of course you take because you needed generic credits and an easy A when underwater basket weaving conflicted with a lab.
