This place lacks science constantly. I few months ago I posted pictures of a fusion apparatus I made. If you're curious on the details go to www.fusor.net. Its easy to make, and we took some data with it. Here are some Wallpaper quality posts to keep the SCI in /sci/ high.

Star mode overexposed, showing electron beam hitting the vacuum chamber window.

Fusors are not fusion apparutuses OP, but they are nice, so high five

Its not breakeven. You cant make energy with it. But you can make neutrons with deuterium. It gets really hot.

We decided to try and measure it with a triple Langmuir probe. I like the color in this one.

The probe coerced an electron beam in lower pressures.

This is a 'fusion' run, temperatures are several million degrees and the operating voltage is around -30000 volts.

See if anyone gets a kick out of this:

Electron temperature at a low operating voltage, around -1200 volts. Notice its a distribution of temperatures.

I love fusion.

If i wasn't 18 and penniless I'd love to dick around trying this shit.

Theres a lot of people who are young and penniless who have given it a go. If you're really interested, read up on it.

>> No.1061124

Ah, a Farnsworth fusor. yeah, those are neat. Problem is, it's kind of difficult by amateur means to tell if you've really achieved fusion, or whether you've just got a really excited plasma.
