>Civil engineering
Buildings and infrastructure like roads, dams, water drainage systems, etc...
>Architectural Engineering
Subset of civil engineering focused on buildings over anything else
>Industrial Engineering
Basically instead of making something new you just try to optimize it. You can also dip into HR and start improving admissions processes, employee work hours, etc...
>Chemical Engineering
What it sounds like, you turn process chemicals and make food products, medicine, etc...
>Petroleum Engineering
Also what it sounds like, you drill oil or find new ways to get it out of the ground
>Electrical
You work in the tech industry on computer systems, other tech like telephones, televisions,etc...
>Aerospace engineering
Airplanes and rockets, kinda cool
>Nuclear Engineering
You work on nuclear submarines or power plants
>Mechanical engineering
Extremely general form of engineering used for power generators, vehicles, and air conditioning systems. The engineering major of choice for people who don't care about engineering to have a passion for one specific type of it, IE undergrads who got helicopter parented into an engineering program and chose the most pussy department

Civil engineers weren't involved in the construction of the ISS at all. The ISS modules were largely made by aerospace companies like RKK Energia and Boeing. Of course I'm sure you think that these companies employ concrete fetishists to make airplane hulls too... The expertise of concrete fetishists, simply isn't useful in orbit.
Now look carefully at that second image of the ISS. Do you see those big white panels? Those are radiators. They get rid of the waste heat from the station. Cooling in space is a much bigger concern than on the ground due to the lack of convective and conductive heat transfer. If the cooling system on the ISS fails, the entire station must be shut down and the astronauts have to leave. Much of the truss structure is dedicated to the cooling system.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/External_Active_Thermal_Control_System
Now do you see those solar arrays? They are a giant mechanical system. They are capable of extending and contracting multiple times. They are mounted on giant 2-DoF gimbals. I could go on and on about all the moving parts on the ISS. I think you're just butthurt because you don't get to make things that move.

The physicists and mathematicians haven't been able to provide us with a good theory(unlike that of the theory of elasticity which has been understod for centuries now) of convection. So we must rely on the dark ones. We etch our summoning circles and make the blood sacrifices. Some times the dark ones even accept them. The following heat sink required many to appease them.

It's such a simple idea really, although the implementation is difficult. We could save an enormous amount on heating and cooling if we only heat and cool the fleshsacks. All we had to do was making a robot that moved around and followed the fleshsacks cooling them. And we did. An astute observer will realize that this shouldn't work, but with the appeasement of the dark gods we were able to find a way

Cooling performance can be greatly improved if the temperature of where we are rejecting heat too is colder. Lucky for us we have the ultimate 3 K heatsink, space. The ancient Nazca were able to make ice in the desert by digging a hole in the ground and insulating it. This allowed water in the hole to lose heat at night to space. With help from the dark gods we have been able to surpass them. We have been able to make a radiative cooler that works during the daytime. Despite the fact that the sun heats things up, with a special nanostructured coating we can achieve a net heat loss to space. They will never be able to find the bodies of the sacrifices we made to achieve this.

Geotechnical engineering is pretty much the highest rated civil engineering sub discipline, because you are dealing with nonlinear material behavior all the time, you working with cutting edge nummerical and surveying tools.
