Yes. Watch Strang's MIT OCW 18.06 lectures at times 2 speed. Do exercises after every few lectures. Take an exam at the end. If you want a more abstract understanding, skim through some book and do some of the exercises that use the new information.

>> No.10590815

>>10590304
Depends. Is it just matrix algebra or actual linear algebra? Neither are hard (though the former is dramatically easier than the latter), but you generally want time to build intuition.

So I'd say that algebra classes generally ask you to let definitions sink in for long enough that you can write the definitions on the paper and let gravity do the work.

>> No.10590862

easily
EASILY

1st step: know what a matrix is
2nd step: know how to multiply a matrix
3rd step: learn row reductions
4th step: learn what a determinant is (hardest part probabily)
5th step: how to invert a matrix
6th step: how to know if a matrix is invertible (determinant is nonzero)
7th step: learn how a matrix represents a "space", and whether or not it is an orthogonal basis (probably 2nd hardest part)
8th step: learn how to change the basis for a "space" using matrix math by transforming a matrix (multiplying left and right by transforming matrix) you can alter a matrix's basis)
9th step: review
10th step: how to use matrix math to solve sets of linear Differential equations (basically one of the appllications of matrix math)

It's probably the easiest math class you will ever take. If you understand what a matrix is it couldn't be simpler.

>> No.10590869

>>10590862
This is true if your "linear algebra" class is just matrix operations. OP could also be talking about linear algebra proper, which is about vector spaces, orthogonality, transformations, decomposition/canonical form, spectral theory, inner product spaces, etc.

Again, not hard at all, but definitely "denser" and in need of time to let the definitions soak

The issue with linear algebra (and other maths topics, or even every field of study) is the maturity of learning curve. There are concepts you need to grow over time, and rushing them is useless. A few nights of sleeps over months, per see.
