The HP 48G was the last meaningful advancement of calculators. I have purchased ~50 of them from Ebay since 2001. Each is sealed in a nitrogen-purged chamber. If you can't do it with an HP 48G, then it is not worth doing.

i have an hp48g and an hp35s
i had to buy the hp35s twice. the first one's plastic packaging was actually covered with a fine layer of dust, and when i pressed the Enter button, it snapped off

Anyone tried Casio CFX-9850GC Plus? Pretty darn mediocre. It was the recommended calculator for all HS students here in Norway in the 2000s.
