I understand that light is curved by massive objects because massive objects curve space. But isn't this the case with all gravity -- that all gravity is, and works because of, curved space? What is the precise mass an object must have in order to curve light? no quotation marks needed because you understand what I'm saying

Once I had a teacher talk about black holes. Mind her, she was black herself. The implications of her talking about black holes made the concept rather a delicate framing of the shape she intended to discuss. I was not one to question her motives, but as she went on to answer eager students, she convinced me of one fundamental reality. Black holes are HUGE. There is of course a reason for that. What do you think? It's an open question.
