Are there any disadvantages to having a high IQ? By this I don't mean the often covered social burdens for high IQ individuals, I mean something more physical. For example, does it take a significantly larger amount of resources to power a high IQ brain

Yes, which is why intelligent people are always tired and usually skinny unless they invest a lot of time into exercise and body building. I've never seen a fat smart person.

my brain overworking is causing me sleep issues,
though Ibelieve the main issue is screen lights stimulating me waaay too much...
IDK if I have a high IQ though but I feel confident saying I probably have above average intelligence

This is probably true, every fattie myself included I’ve ever known is a brainlet.

i know, but it's not focused on dick measuring, im just trying to understand the subject a little better. Perhaps in order to increase IQ certain neural connections need to be made which sacrifice quality in something else? maybe the reason depression is more common among high IQ individuals isn't because they can "think existentially better", but because of the qualities the brain needs to establish in order to have the high IQ in the first place?

Depression is higher in the high IQ because they are naturally more skeptical people who can see inconsistencies where others would see nothing. Furthermore, they tend to have more difficulty expressing their emotions to others so they get a feeling of being isolated as well.
t. brainlet who has never gotten depressed because I’m literally too retarded to be discontent with my own braindead existence

I'm no genius, but I have a large head on a small body and it gets hot easily, which makes me sleepy and it gets hard to think

you need a lot of energy from food to stay mentally sharp; I get brain fog easily

Assuming that you mean someone generally smart with high IQ, and not someone who just has good pattern finding abilities.
It's easy to get overworked, which can ruin sleep.
Even if you are insanely smart, if you're very tired, you're basically reduced to average.
Lack of sleep also causes other issues more than just self-destroying your intelligence temporarily.
There's also a larger need for food and energy in general, making you sleepy and hungry.

No, their high IQ brains require more energy. Smart people can eat 5000 calories a day and gain little to no weight because their brain uses up all that energy.

>> No.10550306

High IQ people usually move weird. its hard to explain but there is a characteristic awkwardness to their body movement.

just look at Ed Witten, just the way he paces for a lecture looks odd.

I think its because these guys have so much cortical mass devoted to intellectual thinking, motor movement becomes a lower priority.
