I was extremely smart in early grades 1st-6th ish): I was well above my grade level. Now i have a saucy 2.7 GPA that is going down and I physically cannot think straight in classes that even require the slightest effort. The fuck happened and how do I stop it?

You burned out. You got cocky, thinking you were hot shit for passing literally the easiest of classes. Then you stopped putting any effort in and reality caught up with you: you aren't special and you aren't particularly intelligent. Start trying or quit school. You are delusional if you think you can get by with only the slightest effort.

Because you were smart in earlier grade levels you never had to try hard. Therefore you never developed study habits or a work ethic like others, which helps more than just "being smart".
Also, too much imageboard browsing and anime rotted your brain

I never implied that I am smart or special. I only implied that I was ahead of my peers for a small portion of time and now I find it difficult to understand extremely basic concepts even when I spend loads of time trying to.

If you're undergrad rn then you probably are just a dumbass faggot retard with 110-115 IQ who thought they were hot shit. If you are underage b& you are probably even dumber than that.

Ok, no need to be a cunt. Please take the time to read my other reply. I'm sure I have an average iq (probably below 115 thats actually pretty high). I came off wrong in my original statement.

The biggest thing is probably not consistently sleeping 7-8 hours a night. Aside from that, being sedentary, fat, and or unambitious wouldn’t help either.

prob burned out, take this next summer slowly and do stuff. Hopefully this is underage b& and u still have undergrad to do well. Doing well in elementary/middle school is irrelevant. Many kids who do well in those years end up shit in highschool/college because they burn out, whilst kids who didn't care can turn out way better.

I'm in a situation like OP and about to graduate with about a 2.7. I don't know if my dream of going into research is still viable or possible. What do?

I was average at best from 1st to 4th grade. Then became slightly above average until 10th grade. After 10th grade I became really good without putting any effort into things. Eventually I graduated as best in my semester from uni while only studying half as much as everyone else. It feels good being good without effort. Sorry that you are a brainlet, op.
