When I was a lil zoomer I found it downright fascinating like I'm sure everyone does. As I've got older it's just made the world so fucking grim, most notably I grew up in a very religious home and believed in an afterlife until about 16 and that there's essentially zero purpose to life. I know it's better to accept the uncomfortable redpill especially as it actually makes your life better than remain bluepilled but still I sort of wish I could take it back.

What does this have to do with science?
I think science is making life pretty interesting since we know so much but at the same time there is so much more out there
The universe has so much potential for happenings

It blackpills you on everything and takes all the "magic" out of life, but yeah I know it's the best thing to ever happen to us.

Ummmm sweetie I'm a valedictorian with an offer from Oxford next year. I sure as fuck "get it" and understand how incredible its been for everyone and how important development is but fucking hell I was happier under the christpill

It's not that depressing. Sure, the existence of magic and supernatural beings would make the world more entertaining but using science to explore the limits of reality is also very interesting.

What about christianity brought you joy?

3 main things really

1) a sense of purpose and ethics outside of what humanity says
2) belief in afterlife, knowing family and eventually myself are gone forever is horrible
3) a clear "superior" in the form of God, yeah this might sound cuck but so much nicer than the world effectively being ran by slightly more successful everyday people

Think about it this way, there are no real consequences for anything. Eventually the earth will be destroyed, the universe will go dark, there won't be anyone left to remember that any of this ever happened. You can do whatever you want knowing that it doesn't matter.

You can keep the ethcis if you regard christianity as a philosophy. Instead of thinking about the afterlife, you can think of the many ways your atoms will be recycled after you are gone. I'm not sure how to replace the need for a god figure though.

1>Purpose and ethics are nothing but subjective fantasies even if God existed.

2> Only because you’ve already been brainwashed to believe it. No one cares past the age of five otherwise.

3> Horrible idea. The Biblical God is pure evil and you want that lording over us?

It should eventually become a liberating feel. No longer do I care about making a contribution to science, or my IQ, or if I am a brainlet or not. I just read and think about things that interest me. Also, take more interest in the arts and appreciate more abstract mediums like language and culture. Bonus points if you can do any of the above without racist thinking.

You like science but cant even have enough willpower to forge your own fucking meaning in life?

You are the true fucking brainlet here, imagine being so fucking weak you refuse to induge your curiosity, enjoy yourself and live for a purpose you can fully decide and dedicate yourself to and instead cry about it on fucking sci, le mao.
