It's really not that expensive. In fact, compared to the US it is ridiculously cheap. Noone cares about which textbook you use or whether you use one at all in maths.
It is an amazingly broad and deep master's programme. Of course there is no guarantee this will make me a successful mathematician but having Cambridge on my CV will open doors for me for the rest of my life.

I'm hoping to become an academic. I want to go into algebraic geometry or number theory. These theories are beautiful and surprising. The objects you study are extremely intricate and starting to understand and use them is very rewarding. I really can't see myself doing anything else, but if I REALLY had to I'd probably go into consulting or become a quant. I definitely hope I won't have to.

I have pretty bad self control and I feel like it's my honest interest in maths that's keeping my going. I always sleep in, skip a lot of my lectures which is definitely not a good thing to do. I stay up late and spend all of my afternoon and most of my evening doing maths, most days. Some days I don't do any maths though and I just lie in bed and fap and browse 4chan and reddit. It's pretty erratic but at least when exams are coming up (like now) I try to spend at least 8 hours a day studying.
