Had like four IQ tests supervised by psychologists. Generally turned out to be between 130 and 150 (WISC/WAIS IV). You often hear about 140 IQ being the lower limit to "genius level IQ." But that's just not true. IQ strongly correlates to intelligence, but that doesn't mean that having a 140 IQ means you are a genius. Genius is defined by intellectual performance and achievements. I can't do shit, even though I'm pretty smart. Major depressive disorder, etc. Smarts and conscientiousness both play a key role. I don't really know what you mean by "tips or tricks" but smart people are more curious in general. The more you already know, the easier it is to learn new concepts within that context.

IQ is determined genetically
Probably so is creativity.

You have almost no control over this.
Why these threads all the time. Just work harder.

> genius not defined by iq
This is the truth. IQ was designed for ruling out intellectual disability, thus it is not useful as a general measure of intelligence. IQ>=100 means you clearly do not have intellectual disability. High IQ indicates genius, but does not determine it. We are not able to clinically measure genius at this point. We have to look at what people achieve in life. Genius comes in many forms. It is widely agreed upon that creativity is a common part of genius. IQ do not measure creativity. We do not have good measures of creativity in general. It is also widely agreed upon that many geniuses had some mild form of autism coupled with IQ>100 and strong interests/motivation. We have good measures of autism. There are other interesting measures of cognition that I won't tell you about. I bet /sci/ will be talking about IQ for years to come even if other interesting perspectives are readily available in the literature.

A genius is someone who gleans the obvious with absolute clarity. Common sense taken to the next level. Some people are just born with it, but I’m convinced you can increase your IQ if you train your mind.

This may be more suited for /sqt/.
Knowing that every 15 points away from 100 is a standard deviation from the average, how significant of a difference in general intelligence is the first stddev? The second?

teach yourself how to think
gain metaknowledge about thinking and knowledge itself, and reach near infinite IQ.
learn how to think and how not to think, and no problem can stand in your way.
true geniuses are creative tho... it can be learned too.
