10498790 No.10498790 [Reply] [Original]

So this guy (who is clearly bonkers) created a strange cellular automaton he claims "can simulate all 4 fundamental forces from a single equation". The whole thing is made of 10+ layers of cells he coded in a spreadsheet. He says he's going to post a paper 200 pages long to explain it in detail.
This is a Terry A. Davis kind of situation. The guy is clearly insane, but the automata itself looks interesting.

He posted this thread on reddit:
https://old.reddit.com/r/cellular_automata/comments/b48xcz/double_slit_experiment_recreated_inside_of_a/

Watch videos of the automata in action on his youtube channel here:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCg1MePVososjk_i6haMJEdQ/videos

Pic is what happens when you put zero in the automata, according to him.

So, this seems neat and all. But, for a brainlet like me, what is the significance of what he's put together here?

He's very excited about tying all four of these fundamental forces together on a single spreadsheet equation, but what sort of use would this equation have for modeling or predicting things or what?

>> No.10499982

As far as I can tell, if it is what he says it is (hint: it's not) then he's essentially "solved" a big part of physics. Such a model would be immensely useful for a multitude of things. One example that comes to mind is simulating chemical reactions.

>> No.10500019

I don't see the significance of his double slit experiment. Getting two waves is the expected result. The same thing happens if you were to do the experiment with water. If he can reproduce the waveform collapse under measurement then I will be impressed.

It's pretty straightforward. It's just that every cell has a vector associated with it. With that and multiple layers, what he's done is pretty cool but not really that impressive.

looks like a variation on lattice gas automaton methods which i know from like, PBS spacetime, have been used for analysing fundamental fields and shit by some people already ages ago so if a schizo pulled off 'something' it might just be, you know, implementing something old and established

>The walls are not "natural" to this automaton. To create a natural "wall" inside this automaton would probably require a supercomputer, but it's theoretically possible - theoretically you could create anything with this automaton if you have enough cells. So adding the walls took around an hour, like I said in the video, because they required a work around so they don't affect their neighboring cells.

Think about it, most scientists are as reddit as one gets, and by removing Johnny and the like from here you're removing the protective bubble against them, which will make them flood in and demand excessive reddit-tier censorship almost instantly as they always do in every single forum they infest. Schizos help us prevent that by filtering out those who obsess over "muh quality of discussion" because inherently 4chan was never about quality of discussion, it was about shitting up the boards as hard as possible until quality randomly manifested by pure chance in the sea of shit and piss. Paper is coming along great! Should be done by Monday at the latest. Also, I might as well say this now so people can get their pitchforks ready, but I will probably be putting it behind a paywall; not a lot of money... Less than a physics textbook... And less than a subscription to a journal as well... I am thinking it should almost be setup like an academic style institution, with its own message board, etc... You pay the "lab fee" and then you are a part of this online institution. I spent 20 years on this theory - and these past 2 months straight working 12+ hour days on this. Optimum Theory covers a lot more than this particular automaton. The automaton is the first principles, but then it branches from there into the origins of life, consciousness, society, artificial intelligence, universal basic income, and finally mind uploading...

If properly applied and fully understood, it could even turn psychology into an actual science, with sociology in hot pursuit. If it comes across as Schizo, that should be attributed to the high-concept questions involved in answering the question that is, "What is the theory of everything?"

Hope this isn't a ruse, because it would be interesting to read such a paper even if it's wrong.

Like Conway, Wolfram also found a lot of examples that show that cellular automata are interesting, and that they seem to be doing things in a similar way to the way that they are done in nature, but to my knowledge, he never found a rule for cellular automata that replicates fundamental physical forces. The most surprising automata rule-produced patterns tend to be either spontaneous generation of fractals, or things like conway's game of life that look like cellular machinery or ecosystems. These are patterns that resemble nature at a much larger scale. I've never heard of a cellular automaton that resembles nature at the the scale of particles and electromagnetic radiation before.

Of course it's fucking fake. For instance quantum wave collapse can't even be done by a standard computer due to it being binary instead of using superposition so a simulation on a classical computer will never be able to properly simulate quantum behavior of the 4 forces properly.

This means that he absolutely can't have a single unified formula and instead uses approximations or false formula for how quantum behavior should be

He could have been another guy on Jewtube fucking with Tesla coils and saying he rediscovered free energy and death beams, in which case it'd be justified to ridicule and demean him because who doesn't already know that that stuff is bullshit. But instead he says he's spent 20 years developing these theories and has a mathematical model to show for it, more than your garden variety crank sending word salad emails to physics professors could accomplish. "how can it explain "everything" and be finite in resolution?"

One of my biggest insights while developing this automaton was that we cannot truly reproduce the Universe, even with knowledge of its underlying equation. Full stop. We are not "God". This is actually a pretty radical assumption. The assumption is generally that someday we will make simulations that are indistinguishable from our material reality in every way. Optimum Theory says, "no". What we CAN do, however, is build ever more powerful simulations, but they will never be perfect, not ever. To help illustrate this concept, imagine a drop of pond water. Pretty easy to simulate, right? You've probably seen water simulated online... But is it real, or just a simulation? In our material reality, that drop of water contains thousands of microorganisms, each one comprised of millions of molecules, suspended in billions of atoms. A drop of water is an insanely complex thing. We will never truly recreate even a square-inch of this universe. but we can try to understand it. And that's what I've done.

>> No.10508748

... Now, you might be thinking, "but someday, we can truly recreate that drop of water, maybe a million years from now". No, not even then, according to Optimum Theory. Go outside in the pitch black of night, take in the trillions of stars around you, and their orbiting planets, the clouds of cosmic dust; take it all in. According to Optimum Theory, there is more complexity in that drop of water than in all that you can see in the brilliance of space. How much more? Infinitely more.

Of course he can simulate a wave equation, heat equation or Schroedinger equation with a cellular automata on a grid, instead of doing the time difference method on a matrix of equidistantly spaced mesh.

The problem is the sampling theorem and the CFL condition, as you cannot simulate things with frequencies higher than your time step allows and with details smaller than your cell size. And CFL condition means that the two are linked and there is a common condition limiting the time step in respect to dimension step.

It is a fucking pain in the ass to analyze the stability of numerical differential schemes, and people are still up to this day writing papers about new numerical schemes and deducing its stability and so on.

Source: Yuropoor physics phd student who had some classes on numerical methods and is glad to work in a laboratory instead of simulations precisely because of this.

I’m gonna disagree with that, the math behind the cells is a more important decider, cell size is just a function of display resolution, if the math behind each cell can represent multiple states/colours like in this guys automata, then things of a frequency of the dimension of calculation times the number states the cells may occupy, which cam massively increase the apparent potential complexity, especially if the math is done in more dimensions than the display can represent, like what we see in nature from our POV.

"Could you replicate a very small version of the universe moments after the big bang, and then run the simulation backwards"

The simulation is not reversible. It's mathematically impossible since with each time step the number of potential paths that could have reached a particular end state also increase. Think of it this way; imagine a guy drove his car to his friend's house out of state. You know that he started at his house, and ended up a state away at his friend's house, but you cannot deduce the exact roads he took with 100% certainty based only on that information. Now multiply that by an infinite number of cars (particles). It's mathematically and logically impossible. And this is why time only has one direction.

>> No.10510619

... But with that said, yes Optimum Theory can simulate the Big Bang, it just cannot reverse time backward. I know this is a pretty radical statement in the world of physics; common assumption has been that physical laws always work the same backward and forward... It's really interesting actually, so much of "mainstream physics" is wrong according to Optimum Theory, and not just kind of wrong, but so wrong it almost feels intentional... It almost feels like a massive shit-test at times coming from whomever put our common knowledge together, to see who would have the brains / balls to call "bullshit" on it. 2nd Law of Thermodynamics is another one. People say all the time, "The Universe tends toward disorder - big bang was much more ordered than our messy world today." And here these guys are, conscious meat that self assembled over billions of years talking about how disordered everything is, like bitch, a single cell from your fingertip has more order than the entire soup of the big bang, the fuck are you talking about???

"sacred geometry did better than this". Well, yeah, because Optimum Theory is not even remotely mystical. It is the most materialist, literal, logical, and complete theory in human history. When I draw connections between Optimum Theory and human heritage / religion, it's only because I enjoy the "poetry" of it. Even the Optimum Theory logo is an illusion to this. I intentionally picked the automaton rule that generates three crosses (trinity), because it's fucking awesome. And by the way, the crosses that manifest into the singularity (black hole) automaton are not something that "I" programmed into it. They generate spontaneously from the equation. I only discovered the pattern from this particular rule set. There is no contradiction here. People should not feel hesitant to discuss these things. Our Universe is pure fucking magic. The fact that 777 spontaneously manifests crosses into a mathematically complete equation of everything is pure fucking magic. What good is even having a mouth if we cannot say how fucking awesome that is?

Maybe just in the realm of production? To be really advanced you kind of have to invent a new branch so that means these people would be
1)discovering new ideas
2)deriving these new ideas from old ideas
3)applying these ideas to problems with known solutions
and
4)Finding assumptions
It should be no different than a PhD student, although a PhD student has a guide. But no different.
But the real question is point 4. Trying to figure out what assumptions are needed is quite hard even when you know what you are doing. Like when Linear Algebra was invented. When you solve quadratics you start off real numbers but there is no guarantee that your solutions are real. So all assumptions need to be found before they are used to jump ahead into something that has never been found.
I simply believe military tech does what is known to be possible, only that no one has found it profitable yet due to costs. That's why IBM and the like are military subcontractors while the military just uses the tech.

... Anyway, I have to go... I'm trying to have Optimum Theory uploaded either today or tomorrow (I think it's hilarious that this could end up being posted on April Fools, like I said the Universe is fucking magic, and that would be the biggest fuck you from the Universe - and would not even contradict Optimum Theory, because it readily acknowledges that we are all fools in this grand design compared to the brilliance of totality). As for the paywall... if I end up with a paywall I will still have plenty of materials available explaining the theory so you can understand the gist of it. But the complete theory will probably have to be behind a paywall for a few reasons - one big one is because of the format I plan on transmitting this, US Department of EDU has certain requirements, and those requirements cost money, and I'm not nice enough to pay for that all myself. Another reason, we're going to have to rent super computer time as some point... I could go on...

This is the common account (τά γραφόμενα) as you have heard from astronomers. But Aristarchus has brought out a book consisting of certain hypotheses, wherein it appears, as a consequence of the assumptions made, that the universe is many times greater than the "universe" just mentioned. His hypotheses are that the fixed stars and the sun remain unmoved, that the earth revolves about the sun on the circumference of a circle, the sun lying in the middle of the orbit, and that the sphere of the fixed stars, situated about the same centre as the sun, is so great that the circle in which he supposes the earth to revolve bears such a proportion to the distance of the fixed stars as the centre of the sphere bears to its surface.

Now you might be wondering, "what about the paper?" The paper is the video. The video is 2.5 hours long, and although it is only accessible to Patreons, you can watch approx 30 minutes of excerpts on the Patreon, plus read a description of Optimum Theory's core assertions. The video's script is 200 pages long. It's a modern concept, but I'm trying to be fresh with this, and after you watch the video I think you will agree that it is much more engaging this way. The cost for access to all the materials is $99 per month, but obviously you can cancel after the first month and I believe you will still get your money's worth. I know that might seem like a lot, but it's less than most textbooks not to mention the cost of a college level class; and what I have produced here is arguably much more than that. What I have created (and am creating) is a modern education and research institution call "The Optimum Institute". Videos and resources will be posted regularly for members which build off the core principles of the Optimum Theory philosophy. Subjects that will be covered included advanced monetary theories (how money works at a fundamental level), advanced relationship theories (how to maximizes happiness, health and success in our friendships, networks, relationships and family lives), advanced social theories and models, advanced theories of addiction, mental health and dependency; law and government, and more. Interaction with the materials and with other members and me will be strongly encouraged, and I will be awarding degrees in "Advanced Computational Studies from the Optimum Institute" at the end of the year for participating members; this is not a "degree mill". I will not be giving out degrees to people who will not represent this Institution well. https://www.patreon.com/Optimum_Institute

... To be clear, I have a business and math / science background. People can earn more than one degree you know. Also I posted 3 new videos in addition to the one you saw 3 weeks ago, and I will be posting more tonight. What I discovered is what I'm claiming it to be, theoretically. I am convinced that it is the Unified Theory of Everything. Patreon members will have access to the complete 2.5 hour video explaining the theory / philosophy in depth, and a 1 hour long video explaining the automaton in depth: how it works and why it works, and I will be uploading the Patreon with new material regularly related to advanced models of material reality. It's an Institution (The Optimum Institution) I will even be awarding degrees at the end of the year in Advanced Computational Studies.

Dude I just wasted like two hours on you shilling your cult

>> No.10515795

It's not a cult. It's an institution built around a philosophy like most Institutions are. There is nothing in the philosophy that is not either 1) material & computational science 2) debatable if you happen to disagree. It just seems like a cult because everyone tip toes around the big questions so much that when someone addresses them head on it stands out. It's a philosophy. If you had to compare it to another philosophy then probably Taoism is most similar, but Optimum Theory is far more quantitatively driven than Lao Tzu could have ever written into Taoism during his time.

It's more that you're not able to speak in a manner that bypasses what we would expect from a con artist who cared to make the same claims. You have to apply your philosophy to the art of communicate and demonstrate honesty beyond your organic existence, or we have to make the reasonable assumption that it really is a sham. It's not about you wanting to be honest, it's about the maximum bandwidth that your honest can accrue in a random sample of a human population. If your theory is as expansive as you say it is, then it shouldn't be hard for you to apply it here, to this, to us.

Yes, Optimum Theory's solution to the hard problem of consciousness is in the video, including discussion of P-Zombies, etc... And more than that, it goes in depth into the actual algorithms of human consciousness and General Artificial Intelligence. I am uploading another preview video related to Universal Basic Income now, which will be available in around 30 minutes (maybe less) which has some pretty radical insights into it (I am all for UBI, fyi), and I will be uploading one more video tonight showing the Big Bang simulated in the Optimum Theory automaton. As for the paywall, you can read a summary of Optimum Theory's core assertions publicly on the Patreon page, the paywall materials just flesh them out. And like I said, Optimum Theory is much cheaper than a college class (or even a textbook!) and I will even be awarding degrees in Advanced Computational Studies to members who participate for a year - and not degree mill degrees. I am only interested in awarding degrees to really solid people who can represent the Institution and its ideas well, and if I cannot find anyone like that then so be it. I will also say this, several really high profile physicists have reach out to me already in support. If you are active in physics you will recognize one of them. I don't want to say who yet, and if you doubt me that's fine, but it's exciting.

If The Optimum Institute is a cult then so is every other educational institution. The money is only to buy super computer time and fund experiments. It's a nonprofit. Furthermore, every institution has a philosophy. I get that The Optimum Institute's driving philosophy is unique and extremely modern; if it wasn't then why even bother? Furthermore, the philosophy is quantitatively driven. Our computational models are 100% real, and that is where we get the ideas from, and if proven wrong we will change our assertions on a dime. The guiding philosophy has been rewritten countless times already based on what have discovered from our models, and I am sure we have plenty of rewrites yet to come.

Nobody is surprised by the lack of interest in this thread in buying what this man is selling, be it for $1 or $1000.

Furthermore, we don't even have reason to believe the rules for the automaton will ever be provided based on the content of the videos posted thus far. The man has been suggesting the 2.5 hrs of video he wants to sell is just more of the same crap. Just want to point out in case anyone actually buys into the scam that cellular automata are not copyrightable, so you can share it with the Internet and someone will make a GPU-accelerated version in C.

This guy has the walls in his mind broken down is such a way that he can create this beautiful automaton but also in a way that he has no idea how to cope with the idea of releasing it and possibly being criticized. I understand how you would just want to believe that the beautiful thing you spent time on is also intellectually important but hiding behind scrupulous claims and the inability to defend and modify the idea will result in a worse fate for the idea; i.e. it gets disregarded.

At least when people want to criticize it they are genuinely interested. If you make people pay to try and figure it out rather than helping them understand it it really just seems like the creator himself doesn't have much faith in the idea. Bad look.

Many people have already reach out to me to make GPU versions of this. I WANT THAT. I'm not trying to stifle progress on this. This equation appears to be exactly what I am saying it is, and I want the best simulations of it possible. The problem is a few fold: 1) Patreon is shit, the page is not even showing in their search results, and they only allow me to charge monthly. You think I wanted to charge you guys fucking $100 PER MONTH? No, I just wanted to charge $100, period. Which is reasonable for what I am offering and in line with academic journals and much less than textbooks, which is exactly what I said from the beginning. Patreon also does not let me gift Patreonage. IF IT DID I WOULD GIFT PATREONAGE TO ANYONE WHO CAN IMPROVE THE SIMULATION. I don't give a fuck, bros. This equation is legit. 2) a big thing holding back acceptance of a UTOE is the way that the research, funding and academic system is designed. You all are probably not even aware that the EU is debating on building a 21 BILLION EURO particle collider. Like, dudes, in the US people are going nuts about spending 7 billion on a wall, and the EU is trying to spend 21 billion on a single machine EVEN THOUGH THE LHC HAS BEEN CRITICIZED FOR NOT DISCOVERING ANYTHING SIGNIFICANT. The reason why the UTOE has been stuck in a rut since the end of WW2 is precisely because of this bullshit. The entire "game of physics" has turned into a funding trap. The only way to break through and advance our species is through really radical models because the old models are corrupted. Just releasing the automaton isn't going to do shit, people will just dismiss it even though it is exactly what it says it is. Vaccines are real and people don't give af. Hell, half our country does not even believe in evolution. The only way to approach something this radical IMHO is through actual structure: an advanced school that produces students who are so much more advanced than the standard quote that the world...

... That the world will have to take notice. We have serious problems in this country / world, and the models of our common knowledge need a serious kick in the ass. Our species has a serious shot at galactic colonization and eternal life NO BULLSHIT but we need to get our shit together. People always say this kind of thing is impossible, mother fucker, the time between the Wright Brothers first flight and landing on the Moon was less than one lifetime. DON'T TALK ABOUT IMPOSSIBLE. But success is NOT guaranteed. Look at what the Moron Egyptians did, spent all their resources building stupid fucking pyramids - not that they aren't cool, but do you see any of those King Tut mother fuckers around today? No! Their way of life died. They were inefficient. They were un-Optimum.

What kind of logic is this? Just saying "it is what I say it is, you just have to BELIEVE ME guys" isn't going to get you any support. If the automaton does what you claim it will, people WILL recognize it.

/sci/ supports [math]\LaTeX[/math] and /g/ supports code blocks. Either post an actual detailed mathematical description of the system or the pseudo code. If you truly had faith in your automaton you would have no qualms about releasing it for analysis.

dude your dedication to helping others and furthering research is admirable, i can tell that's what you really want, you have a good heart and you actually care about the problems you're trying to solve. it's just that you're going about this wrong, you want the money for your credit but you don't have the credibility yet. if your theories are as powerful as you believe, then they can actually help others, generate research, generate further investigation - but only if you're willing to give the people who can help you something tangible instead of some pretty mirage that hasn't sated anyone's thirst.

coming to 4chan wasn't a bad idea for you at all. many wonderful things have been created because of 4chan. the raw power is here. but you have to give us a reason to believe in you.

Legitimate response to your recent replies: People doubt your validity and won't pay $99 to learn from you unless you show proof that your patreon isn't going to just be pseud nonsense about money and relationships without any sort of scientific reasoning.
>Just releasing the automaton isn't going to do shit, people will just dismiss it even though it is exactly what it says it is.
If you released the source code people would be able to judge if you have ideas worth paying for, but right now there really isn't much to go on. I suspect if you just shared the automaton and it was actually novel, many people would be willing to pay to listen to you.

The system, as is, has already proven that it cannot be trusted to advanced the UTOE. they are spending all their money on fucking colliders (the 21st century version of an Egyptian Pyramid). If you understand Unified Physics you would understand that what they are doing with those colliders is essentially just pushing bubbles around. It gave us some great data about how fundamental particles behave, but we have enough data to simulate unfied reality now. They could give me even a million dollars and I would have a photoreal fucking Matrix like out of fucking Hollywood, last week. The system is, frankly, heading for a dark ages without intervention. Go listen to the TedTalks with those people, they have already accepted this broken world; ex. they have bought into finite-life so hard that they actively OPPOSE life extension technology. They have already bought into this bullshit slavery system where a few at the top control the money supply. It's fucking slavery. Not metaphorically. Fucking literally. They try and obfuscate it, and pretend like Capitalism is some kind of reality show where anyone can win, and sometimes they even let a few retards like Cardi B make it just so that people will believe, but ask yourselves this, "why is inflation going up but not wages?" I'll tell you why, because these fucks are printing money for themselves. Literally just printing money. And then they use that money as their slave tokens, i.e., us. You do what they say, or you starve, like a slave. UBI breaks that cycle. Everyone wonders why white, Western birthrates are down: because the system is fucking bullshit. It cannot be trusted. So we're going to fund the future ourselves, or not at all.

I have already tried to approach "the establishment" about this simulation. They are not even remotely interested. They find the most bullshit reasons to mock it, references 11 dimentinal space and hologram bubbles and other bullshit; the entire trick they are pulling is a smoke screen and gas light. They want people to feel stupida nd just giveup even though the equations they offer are completely fucking fake and designed specifically for ofuscation. Why? Because they are focused on a 21 billion euro new collider. That's the real game here. 21 billion greases a lot of palms. And yet even the collider is fake. It's an Egyptian pyramid. An impressive feat from the outside until you realize that its just a way for the slavemasters to give the slaves something to do. We have the data RIGHT NOW to simulate realty. This system cannot be trusted. We have to advance knowledge ourselves now, as a hivemind. But perhaps even hiveminds need a little direction - Idk on that point.
