I don't know about that, but french people seem to take a lot of pride from their "mathematical abilities" I've been living here for a long time, from my interactions with my french collegues most of them believe they (the french) are mostly good in math and consecuantely in engineering, if given examples or trying to discuss that it's not the case they will rage which is very uncommon for a french to do, they are mostly very cold blooded no matter what happens and like discussions. Don't know if that proves anything but it's just an observation.
